Savage Backbox

Hi all, ive just purchased a savage backbox for my 2000 corolla liftback 1.3 4efe. i heard that sports backboxes can cause engine damage such as burning out your valves, i wanted to know if this is true? Also i was wondering if anyone has any backboxes they would reccomend for this engine/ model. Im hopeing to get a suttle perky roar, but have a feeling its going to be stupidly loud. Any help/advice greatly appreciated. also do these exhausts provide any noticeable performance improvement?

A backbox on it's own will do pretty much nothing in terms of power increase. Also, your valves won't be at risk of burning out if you fit one.

Savage backbox's do sound rarther loud.

your engine will be fine ... its just a backbox it will only make you car loud. If you want more performance fit a powerflow exhaust.

this is true , i have a savage backbox, and the noise is louder, but not stupidly loud, however a very noticable difference from the original, i am aware that there are no perfromance gains from this. However in terms of smiles per hour, the backbox really begins to roar as i go over 4000 rpm, (i have the 1.6 4A-FE engine). Whilst fun it is definately going to be replaced by a custom exhaust setup, hopefully quite soon.

try and find a powerflow exhaust centre near by. they make custom exhausts and built it to fit your car. they can make it sound and look how you want and an added BHP n their prices are pretty fair :D
