no it won't, brake pads and other consumables (such as Wiper Blades, tyres etc) are not covered under the warranty.

and i agree like yourself the OE pads are cack.

I'd go Endless SSS or EBC Greenstuff.

well i checked out motorsportworld and they r selling ebc green stuff pads for £47.48 (front) £42.25(rear) with an xtra £7.50 P&P, not sure if itll cost that much to send both. do u think i shud take my car down to Mr T tomorrow and get them to check out the standard brakes and ask if they wud void my warranty if i was to get after market pads. Or shall i just buy the pads?

here's my guide to changing pads and discs which i posted a while ago, the setup on a T3 is the same as a t sport (my car) but the disc size is different. so it sould be straight forward.

http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=56738

you only need to do steps 1 to 6, and step 19. the backs are the same as the front on an E12 corolla,

hope this helps

Looking at the actual size and shape for the 2.0 D4D, the DP21457 model ones(front pads) look like the correct fitment as the others are much larger and squarer in shape.

Although to add a disclaimer, as I've never seen the pads from the 2.0 diesel, I can not guarentee thast this is correct.

Is there a way to check ie by looking for a number on the current pads? (don't want to take the wheel off)

I used the motorsport world website ;)

I guess there must be a code I can get from Toyota that will match the MSW code??

I'll wait for nrgizerbunny as it seems he knows abit :P ;)

DP21457 is the correct part number! This fits all UK E12 corollas.

the difference between the diesel/t sport/normal petrol is only the brake carrier, the caliper and the pads ARE THE SAME.

also if you have a look at my brake fitting guide, see if your pads look like the one in the picture.

Anyhow I can guarantee 100% that the DP21457's will fit. If you want the rears, then send me a PM or post your car details up here and i'll send you the part number for your car. I have the EBC book in front of me!

have a nice day

On a slightly related note, I noticed yesterday that my front discs are quite badly "grooved" where the pads make contact (can't believe I've not noticed before) so I am looking for some Black Diamond Combi front discs and I'll also chuck some green stuff at the car too whilst I'm at it. So where's the best place to pick up som BD combis from?

I've seen people on here getting their discs replaced by Mr T during their warranty period so I would imagine they are covered so you won't be able to replace them if you like your warranty intact. It makes no difference to me anyway as my warranty ran out at the end of December so I've been happily replacing bits myself since then

arhh thats a shame, well i still hav 1yr and half till mine runs out :crybaby:

Also i recieved the pads today, u get 4 pads in each set, so not bad, just means once a pair of the pads runs out i can just fit the others :D

i hope to fit them sunday so ill post sum pics

basically anything that is consumable that wears out through use is not covered by warranty. therefore tyres which wear out or brakes which wear out will require replacing at the owners cost (as its not toyotas fault of the car has been ragged).

If there is a fault that is not through wear, ie the disc has warped or 4 tyres have catastrophically suffered blowout, then toyota are required to change them.

If you change your brake discs then the warranty on defects passes from toyota to EBC/black diamond or whoever.

The use of aftermarket brake pads (provided they are of the same spec or higher than OE) will NOT affect your warranty. This is also covered by the EU block exemption agreement which allows you to fit non manufacturer parts (OE spec though) to the vehicle and keep your warranty. some more info is here.

http://www.dti.gov.uk/consumers/fact-sheets/page29050.html

This scenario is no different to the situation that would arise if you swapped out your head unit for a pioneer or something. the warranty is taken up with pioneer on the headunit and not toyota. hope this clarifies things.

I would go motorsportworld to buy discs and pads, they are pretty good.

have a nice day

heh shows what I know then eh? ;)

And motorsportworld are no good for discs as they don't sell the combis for the cts (unless they do but haven't got them listed on the site).

Hi Ckman85.

By the sound of your last message you are only planning to change a set of pads on one wheel only!!!

When ever you put new pads on you MUST change both sets at the same time, or the brake balance will be out.

OK will give em a call as I also have to call europerformance and venommotorsport because no one seems to be willing to have a price for them on their site. I guess they all order them in because there's probably not much demand.

p.s. I'll try my best to shut up now and stop the thread hijacking ;)
