Ipod/bluetooth Connections For New Tns700 Satnav

I've just got my brand new Avensis T3-S and am **very** pleased with it.

It has the new TNS700 integrated SatNav/Radio/CD Player to which I want to add an iPod connection and handsfree bluetooth link, but there is no information in the manual about the connectors on the back of the unit. So its difficult to know which iPod and bluetooth systems might be compativle with this unit.

The garage I bought the car from is trying to find out this information, and tell me the same unit has been fitted to the RAV4 for the last year.

Can anybody give me any pointers to where I might get some information about connector compatability on this unit.

Thanks

Try the Glove compartment which should have a lead connector for IPOD. I have the new Avensis as well n all my Ipod's work fine with the TNS700. more over u can control and choose the files u want to play using the steering wheel controls. i can also see the song names and art work on my TNS700 screen as the songs are being played from the Ipod.

Check this link out to find out more about the ipod connection for Avensis. open the link and go the option on the left of the screen where u will find WMA/MP3 where it will take u to the IPOD information.

As for bluetooth connections i belive most of the phones work as i have 3 of them rigged into the TNS700 unit and they work like a charm. Nokia, SonyEricsson n Motorola are the one that i use and of couse the best response is from the Nokia.

check the site n follow the links to know which phones are compatable with ur TNS700..

happy driving..

Cheers !!!!

Hi Venkat,

Thanks for that information and links. I'm guessing that your car came with a technology pack installed?

Unfortunately, this option was not chosen for my car, which is why I'm trying to get the connector information for the TNS700. So I'm still trying to locate a picture, or manual, or any other information about compatible iPod and bluetooth systems that are compatible with the TNS700.

Just out of curiosity, is there a manufacturers name on the iPod connector you have in your glovebox. I'm assuming that Toyota use some sort of 3rd party kit.

Thanks

Hi NC,

I've just joined the owners club as I have a T180 tourer on order. I just wondered how you got on with your search for an ipod connection and handsfree bluetooth kit that are compatible with TNS700?

I know the Toyota bluetooth kit doesn't have a great rep and I have been quoted close to £300 for the official ipod intergration kit.

Do you or anyone know of any 3rd party kit that is compatible?

Thanks,

Sparkicus

Toyota do an ipod kit, and also a bluetooth kit, the ipod kits are availble from our website here If you want a bluetooth kit, PM me your vehicle chassis number and I will price one for you

Kingo

Thanks Kingo,

Can you let me know if the song information appears on the TNS700 screen whilst using the ipod kit?

Regards

If it's the Toyota kit then no song information appears. It mimics the cd changer so you get numbers 1 .... 6 on the screen representing discs in the changer but actually meaning playlists on your iPod. You need to sort out your playlists beforehand and you need to know what is on each one because you get nothing on the screen to tell you.

Sound quality is fine, useability is pretty grim and Toyota ought to have got their act together on this because it's very expensive for what it does.

One other point the official location for the iPod lead and the iPod is in the glove box so you need the arms of a gorilla to reach it from the driving seat. If you are fixing it yourself the best place would be in that handy little cubby hole box on top of the dash where the sat nav display sits on the pre-2006 cars.

I intend to move mine to that position if somebody can tell me how to remove that box without wrecking the dash. :D

Hi all. I just got about two months ago the Avensis SD 2.0 D-4D Sol+GPS (sedan/estate diesel). I think it is the equivalent to the UKs T-Spirit. . I'm extemely pleased with the performance of car indeed. I have SatNav (GPS) installed, and I think it is the TNS700 (big screen). The same as this:

avensis_gold2.jpg

1) What is the difference between the TNS600 and the TNS700? How do I know which one do I have?

2) I use Parrot HandsFree kit (bluetooth). Nevertheless read that some models allow one to synch the calendar data etc etc beetween the TNS700 and the Phone. Furthermore it allows on screen dial. Is this true or at all possible since I've seen no info about it referred in the owners manual? If so, what do I need to buy to do this?

3) Up in this thread I've read that is possible to fit in iPod support to the extent that not only the song listing is shown in the screen but also the album art. What acessory do I need to buy to do that?

Venkat_K post really intested me, but how can I achieve what he describes?

Thanks in advance for any help.

By the way, my car is consuming 7.5l/100KM on the mortorway (average 138KM an hour) and 7.5l combined according to the on-board computer. An average fully above the 6l/100KM announced in the site.

Nuno

PS: I'm from Portugal, so I appologise upfront for my pour written english skills.
