can anyone tell me the nearest access point for the interior lights in a 2003 rav4 without having to take the ceiling down  as i want to ad some footwell lights and would like to tap into the interior light circuit so they come on and on with the door :help:

I think it will be easier to pop the door seal off and feed it behind the A pillar trim then under the headlining. Take the interior light out and feed a piece of stiff wire out to the door pillar and tape your wire to it to pull it through.

It's up to you but that's how I would do it.

If you really want to locate the wires then pop out the interior light and see if you can identify the colours of the wires. They have to go up the left or right pillar but it will be a pig to splice in. In any case if you want the footwell lights to come on with the interior light it is easier to do it at the interior lamp so that you can pick up on the courtesy timer.

Remember that LED's are polarised so you will have to get your positive and negative the right way around.

Regards

i have now installed my blue neon footwell lights  they come on when i open the doors .i ran the cables from the rear dome light as the front one was right behind the sun roof so was all encased to stop the wires being ripped out every time you open the roof  :it took about an hour and looks really cool 2 hiccups though i blew a fuse by connecting the pos wire first  second one was breaking a plastic clip when getting the bottom dash off (i am sure they design them to break :crybaby: )

will post a pic when i put the dash back on (toyota not open till monday ):lol:

Clumsy :P

The Toyota Publications website is worth a look as it shows you exactly where all the clips are and in which direction to pull. It cost 3 euro an hour but you can download any file you want from the workshop manual.

Cheers
