Beating A Ctr!

Hi all what do you think it will take to beat a CTR i've only ever raced one at higher speeds and I was up his ***** all the way, he couldn't get away and I think if we were side by side I would have gone past him but everyone always goes on about 0-60 so has anyone raced one from stand still if so what was the outcome?. I went head to head with a sierra cosworth last week I was behind him on a dual carriageway in second and when I put my foot down I went past him and he couldn't keep up, I know he was booting it cos I had my window open and I could hear his engine all he did when I slowed down was look over and over again to see what my car was!

WOW that t sport keeps up with the type r that gives me hope as i have the k and n typhoon kit, lowered on 17's and am just about to get the apexi power fc fitted so that should do it I hope!! If not i'm going for the supercharger!!

LOL

Why didn't you just buy the CTR instead :P ;)

I beat CTR off the lights in the wet because he wheel spun to much ,I think the traction control stoped me from spinning, although I did spin a tiny bit.

Read this road test ,it gives all the time for MPH and others at the bottom of the read. For a quarter mile standing start the toyota is slightly faster ,read for yourself..

I think those times were in the wet as the CTR actually does 0-60 in sub 7 seconds and 1/4 in sub 15.

I am in the fortunate position that i, come six months ago was a type r owner. I got rid of it purly for my financial situation, house and all that and moved to the t sport. This leaves me in the position to compare the two. My opinion, head to head, type r would beat the cts everytime in the dry. In the wet though in a straight line the t sport would have it. The type r has only a lsd and can only put its power down through fat tyres and the weight of the front end, the t/c on the corolla is certainly where it has the advantage. I have lowered mine just with springs and it still doesn't handle as well as the ctr but that doesn't mean that you can't make it handle better givent he right money and set up. The CTR box is so close together as well which gives it another upper hand, changing gear is like a having a panel shift. On the track am not sure, ctr would have it on the corners, maybe have the edge on the long straights as it has more torque with being a 2ltr, as the stats show on the pdf thou, the cts will beat it to 100mph.

Aye but...........

its not a fair playing ground for a start... Not like that would bother me!

and on the other hand many people don't want the compressor! Being honest i'll miss the Lift kick you get! Thats what puts a smile on my face everytime i'm playing through the gears! Its that age old thing 'If you never had it you won't miss it!'

Just personal pref really! But is is an option!

I didn't buy a CTR because there are so many of them about their as common as the clio sport where as I've only ever seen 2 other CTS and they were both being driven by women!!

i had a cts and now own a compressor and the lift is a good feeling on the cts but it is a short band of power were as the compressor you feel it right threw the range if you run a compressor for a while you wouldn,t change back it is a vast improvement on power :driving:

I've owned both too. The TypeR doesn't have a LSD though! The Jap Import does but not the UK version, even the Premier (final) edition which I had.

TypeR faster off the mark in the dry. A !Removed! to get off the line in the wet, but cornered much flatter and powered out of corners much better than the T Sport.

The T Sport is a much better ALL-ROUND car though and with suspension tweeks (Eibach springs or TEIN), gear lever mod (TRD quickshift) and bigger/wider wheels (17" is plenty) it will be a much-improved driving experience and still cost less than a comparable TypeR. I'm seriously considering going back to a T Sport NA when I get moved into my flat...

Cheers mate! I'm sorry I did now! But at the time I had to sort out my cash flow, then went for a TypeR when I had a few £££s again!

But, now I'm in the process of buying a flat so when that's sorted the TSport would be great value for money... leaving some spare cash for the mods above! :yahoo:
