Padlock For Wheel Cover

The last 20mm padlock I put on the wheel cover on my RAV rusted up within 9 months - I had protected the lock mechanism with waterproof tape, this worked fine, but the actual shackle had rusted - It took brute force with pliers to unlock it - Anyone managed to buy a lock to fit the small hole that is more rustproof? If so where from, and what was the name? - Or will I just have to grease it regularly (Which I failed to do with this one!)

I have an IFAM M-30 pad lock which is made in Spain. It looks like it's chromed but it isn't. Mine has been on for almost two years and opens every time with no protection of any kind applied. You should be able to get one from a good lock smiths.

I've tried to get a lock that doesn't rust (there are similar threads in archive) and the IFAM m-30 was mentioned there. Noone in Leeds has come across it and googling it does get any hits. No armoured/weatherproof lock will fit. I like my cover and don't want to pay £300 for a new one if some toerag pinches it as "a bit of a laugh"

On mine (a 2006 XT4), I can't get the wheel cover off without opening the back door (or breaking great chunks out of the cover or rear bumper). If somebody was that determined to steal the cover, I don't think a padlock would stop them.
