Help With Changing Gen 7 Fog Light Blubs

Hi,

I'm sure some of you have changed the fog light bulbs on a gen 7 (2003) before and I'm looking for some pointers.

I started with the manual and it said go to a main dealer. I'm a hands-on guy, so thats not going to happen. I've checked the shop manual as well but couldn't find it in there nor anything on this forum.

Do I need to jack the car and remove the front bumper or take off some of the "stuff" under the arches?

thanks

Eamon

I believe the easiest way is to remove the front bumper or you could always try to get to them by undoing the inner wheel arch.

Hi,

Did you have any luck with changing the fog lights yourself - did you have to take off the front bumber or go via the arch? If you went via the bumber, how easy/difficult was it to remove - i also need to re-clip on the grill one of the clips has come loose

Any help would much appreciated

thanks

Neil

The front bumper is very easy to remove, however if the passenger side has gone you can easily change the bulb by sticking you hand through the plastic arch lining. The drivers side has the washer container there, which makes it more difficult but is do able.

Personally if i had to do it i would remove the bumper as the black plastic arch linings are particular sharp around the edges.

To remove the bumper see here:

Can be done in 5 mins once you know what you are doing. One hint... use WD40 on the 4 lower bolts under the grill as they are prone to rusting, and stick you hand in the arch to detach the white bumper clip... it costs £7 to replace from toyota so dont break it!
