Dead Radio

Hi guys. I'm a newbie around here seeking some advice from your collective wisdom.

I've searched the Yaris forum, but cannot find quite the answer to my particular problem.

I've got a Yaris SR registered in 2002 - I've had it for a while and by and large very satisfied with it.

Problem is the radio has gone west. I usually have it on most of the time, so it switches on and off with the ignition. When I switched the engine off t'other day, I noticed the volume control was not doing anything - volume stayed the same. I took the key out and of course the radio went off. When I came back, the radio would not come on again - no matter which buttons I pressed.

I still have the clock/temperature/trip computer display and the cig lighter power is still there. The CD grab/eject still works and it sounds like the CD is rotating, but no track display or audio. ("CD load" flashes briefly then disappears)

I checked the fuse under the dash, but was pretty sure from previous posts that this would be OK - it was. Things like the clock display died when I pulled the fuse, but returned when I put it back.

My fear is that the unit itself is dead - or is there another fuse or some such which just feeds the radio?

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks

Ron

welcome to toc

I see you live a few miles up the road from me.

Can't really help, but I think there is only the 1 fuse for cd player.

More than likely a problem with the cd player.

Try one of those cd lens cleaner discs, just incase it's the lens that's a bit dirty.

I take it you've tried more than 1 disc just incase it's a dud disc.

If it still doesn't work try a car audio specialist just to have a quick look.

Thanks, but I don't think the problem is with the CD player - the transport seems to be working - it's the radio and amp side that seems to be dead
