Hi all my dads just brought an 06 plate avensis t3x. Now there is a little light on the dash just by temp guage right by the knob that is stickin out of the rev counter. It a orange symbol of what looks like a speedo or rev counter and a light bulb in the top right hand corner. I first thought it was a bulb failed light but all bulbs work fine. I dont have this light on mine a 54 plate avensis and have not seen it on a facelifted version like my dads before. I've seen the same symbol on vw group cars and that is a green in colour again there is no mention of this light in there manual either. I've turned of auto headlamp setting and the light is still there. So i cannot think what it is any help is welcomed thanks in advance.

I think the light (which appears to represent an instrument eg speedo) simply informs that the button is there to control the instrument lighting. Never seen it do anything interesting on my car, so always assumed that is what it means.

That would make perfect sence has its not in the manual anywhere under warning lights etc. Thanks for reply

Not sure if the same but looks abit like my cruise control light on our Disco3. Does the T3x have this ??

I 'think' if you press and hold the button next to the symbol when the lights are on it will increase/decrease the instrument light brightness.

May be wrong though.

Its gotta be something like cruise control or something. it used to be on my beemer.

switch the cruise option off, or you should have a physical button for cruise to turn on or off, and then a seperate set button.

On the verso the words cruise is highlighted on the instrument panel when the cruise control is active I don't know if the Avensis is the same but guess Toyota would keep to the same system through out there range of cars

Just looking at the symbol again I think it shows it to be if you twist( or press) the stalk coming out of the speedo it will dim the lights on the instrument panel which is what Mart said in an earlier post

It is to dim the dial lights, the t3x petrol does not have cruise control on the facelifted model only the diesels do. Just was unsure why they'd use a light to show what the dial does. My t3x does not have this light. On the other side tho my dads dont have the little red led that shines down over the gear knob like mine.
