Is it possible to buy the single disc loader to replace the tape deck in the 2001 avensis? the stereo looks like it is seperate from the tape deck and I have seen the same stereo with a single cd slot where the cassette loader is located.

thanks,

That tape deck / CD part includes an amplifier and also whole radio receiver system. And yes, it is separated from that display part, so if you know from where you can get that CD part (ask from junkyards, Toyota dealer, etc.) you can replace that tape deck.

Just be careful when detaching that radioframe, first you need to pull it out few centimeters, then lift it up about a centimeter and then pull it out completely. There are plastic holders which will break if you use too much force when pulling that frame out without lifting it.

Here's a picture of that radioframe what you should try to pull out from the dashboard. ;)

Hello again,

I think that you will find help from this website address:

http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com/aim_Searc...roup=0&lan=

Just Choose

Vehicle: Avensis

Kata Extract: T22

Generation: Any

Category: Any

Accessory group: Audio

...and hit the search. ;)

I think you should be able to find audio installation manual to your Avensis, just click that "magnifying glass" icon and you should have all needed information on your screen. :)

I have a CDX which means tape deck and Cd changer in boot. all you have to do is pull the center console from out of the dash, just clips out! the its about 4 screwa on the other side to take out tapedeck, swap for cd player conect leads and you're away!

Solved this problem, thanks for advice from all. Toyota quoted 600euro for a 6 disc changer (100 per disc!) and thats just for the changer not the radio aswell. So I searched the net and found a nice little iTrip for my iPod Nano and bought a holder which I stuck behind the indicator stalk. Now I have 8gigs worth of music anytime I want and total cost - 60euro, eg. 50euro for iTrip, 9euro for holder. This works out at 10% of quote for cd changer. Ok I did get the iPod as a gift, but even this can be bought for 250euro for top of range and 60euro for iTrip and holder, but still almost half the price of a changer.

I will prob keep an eye on eBay for a single disc slot at a good price.

Good for you, man! I had also couple thoughts before that I could use that wireless transmitter with my Ipod Nano, but I decided to order active cradle by Dension and connect that to my car. Works fine, in a matter of fact - that thing is excellent. It will replace CD changer, and best part of that it will take commands through car's own audio system. Even random and repeat buttons on dashboard works OK! And what is the most important to me, quality of sound is - how to describe it? - heavenly, but of course depending the quality of MP3 and your Speakers...

And what did this Dension cradle cost? - About 155 euros with new Nano2 adapter included.
