Servicing Costs

Just had a quote from the Leeds Toyota dealership to service my 2002 RAV4 GX VVTI and to change the front pads.

They are quoting £240 for a full service (40,000 miles) and £135 to replace front pads.

Seems a bit steep to me. What have others paid?

Don't know about the pads, but I just paid £200.24 for my 40K service at a Toyota dealer - that includes parts and VAT.

They are ripping you off .... I got quoted £100 for pads & fitting at Border Toyota and £160 for 40k service, admittedly with the additional Battery for the fob, fuel filter, pollen filter and air filter it came to 200 but it's giving me 4-5mpg more as a result. Kwik fit will do the pad's for £65 all in and replace them free for as long as you own the veichle on condition you have any other brake items done with them that are due. For the 40 mins it'll take to do the pads and the £25 they'll cost for Mintex pads it's worth getting your hands dirty but if you're not that way inclined Kwick Fit aren't that bad ...

Thanks for your replies.

I think that the Toyota dealer feel that they can charge what they like as the next nearest dealer is about ten miles away?

Avalon. I now have a dilemma, Kwik fit is opposite my place of work, but I am an engineer and have changed pads on smaller cars, so I guess a RAV4 is not so much different?

Don't travel down the M62 to Huddersfield then as I've recently paid over £300 for that service. No courtesy car or car pickup available but I did get a 'free' wash of 50% of the car and extra oil left on the undertray (to seep out all over my and other peoples drives) Oh and they couldn't fix the fault it went in with. But that curved hardwood bar in reception is nice.
