Unfortunately my Gen 7 Celica which was a 2000 but had only done 45K has decided to make me part with some money. The engine is gone...and i need to get a new engine....I'm a student and was wondering if any1 has got any contacts or links where I can get a good new 1.8vvti Engine without spending too much?!

I hate not having my Celica in this weather!

Thanks a lot for the help guys!

No way, that's bad news :( What the hell happened to it?! Probably going to very hard to find one unless you get one from a scrappie from a write-off. Dread to think how much Toyota would want for a new engine!!

I bought my engine for my Celica from Fensport. Very friendly peeps, give them a call, they might be able to help you out.

Fensport.co.uk . ... that was for a much older engine though. If you become a gold member then most Toyota dealers will give you a discount....but even then It'll still be WAY overpriced!!!

Give these a go m8, I know a few celica owners that have used them http://www.tcbparts.co.uk/

You have the oval piston problem and now your bottom end has gone due to no oil, Toyota are fully aware of this problem have extended the engne warranty to 5years. But this problem was resolved in 2002 (post facelift)

so that was big of them

Give Toyota Uk a ring and try to get them to replace it  so long as you have full history they might if you keep pushing

Best of luck m8 ;)

If all else fails there's one on Ebay for a grand HERE

I saw that one...and msgd him to see if he would negotiate but he declined. A Grand is over my budget...does any1 know of any cheaper 1.8vvti 140bhp engines being sold?

Hey,

Looks like i'm in the smae boat as you, need a new engine for my vvti (due to the !Removed! oil problem) but not much cash !! I was wondering if you ever sorted it out and if so how much did it cost you ??

If the worst comes to the worst, and I can't afford to fix it, how much do members think my vvti would be worth ? Dec 2000, premium and sports pack, 106,000 miles, still drives really nice, unmarked body and interior, although drinks oil at the rate of 1l every 200 - 300 miles ?

I couldn't see you getting £2000 for it to be honest, not what you want to hear. But due to the scarcity of 2nd hand engines around they are well expensive so it hits the value of your car bigtime. If you actually try to sell it with the engine like it is I would be surprised if anyone was interested.
