Suspension Knock

Please can anybody help me out with this one. Whilst driving my car from cold, and still cold, I’ve noticed that there is a knocking noise coming from the front of the car :help: . Sounds like suspension knock. Not sure if it’s that or the rack. I have an Avensis 1.8 petrol saloon on a 54 plate which has done 27500 miles. Not sure if it’s my imagination but the noise seems to dampen down once the car has done a few miles, bit like it’s warmed up. Any ideas please!java script:emoticon(':help:', 'smid_12')

:help:

When I changed my 17 215/45 tyres for 50 profile I noticed that the inside of the front tyres would sometimes hit the springs (and so I quickly changed back to 45s!) even though the increase in radius was only about 1cm. I don't know if this has any relation to your problem but it seems that there's not much clearance between the the wheel and the springs.

Cheers guys. This sound is more like metal knocking noise but goes off when warmed up. Odd!

I had a similar problem with my Carina II - as you say it stopped when the car warmed up. I put it down to worn bushes on the lower wishbone. It never got worse and I left it well alone.
