Warranty Costs

Just bought a 3yr old t-spirit from mr t. now the great one is asking for £485 for a further unlimited 1yr warranty in addition to the one I have already.

This seems a bit steep. I'm sure I paid less than this for a 2yr unlimited warranty on 98 1.8cdx when it was 4yr old.

can anyone confirm the price is correct?

to be honest that sounds about right. when i bought my 54 spirit, i looked at the prices for the extende warranty and im sure for 2 years it was just over £700 and the 1 year was more than half the price. Expensive though!! considering their Toyotas, i thought they would have more faith!!!!

Yeah I was considering buying in, but couldn't afford it at the time. But you never know, it might pay itself if you get a problem.

My extended warranty cost £435, but you get RAC cover thrown in, got me headlights changed which would have cost £600+, will probably continue it when it expires, currently got the oil consumption problem,so its tagged at the moment, go to go back in a 1000 miles.

You can pay monthly DD for at no extra cost.

or you could buy a hyundai with a very long warranty....

Come on MrT - where's the faith in your own product?

We are hearing lots or problems with design flaws resulting in high oil consumption, dodgy headlights and tyre vibration. MrT is raking it in for poor quality control and expects us to pay for it by buying extended warranty. I love my Toyotas but I must admit that I'm beginning to get very worried about a replacement motor. Do I take a gamble on obtaining a Toyota without faults or swap to the new VW Passat (which has similar looks to the Mk1 Avensis rather than the new Avensis, which is closer to the V***hall V***ra)

So - not to hijack the thread, shouldn't the question actually be "do I buy an extended warranty as I have zero faith in my car or dealership or do I change to another manufacturer who will save me approx £1000 by giving a 6 year warranty"?

I agree with what you're saying Penfold.

My warranty needs renewing in July, so do I Shell out knowing that I'll soon have a typical VVTI oil issue (mine's an X reg with 39k on it) or do I just get rid and go back to trusty VW-land. Plus I don't know about anyone else but the Jemca dealers are particularly rude and unhelpful. I've previously had half a dozen Golf's and never had any issues with them.

After experiencing the ride quality in a 3yr Hyundai Coupe which would you rather have?

I'm very pleased with the build/quality and ride of my 3yr t-spirit which still feels tight and new even at 41k. However when my current warranty expires (11 months) I shall probably renew just for piece of mind. Like everyone says if things go wrong it can be very expensive.

  • 2 weeks later...

my Warranty expires June. :crybaby:

Still thinking about the warranty, Murphy's law, you buy it and will never get to use it, you don't buy it and that's when you wished you had
