My Yaris has a few scratches and chips.

depending on how deep the scratches are you can use a good car polish to try and rub them out. doesnt fully get rid of them but they don't look as bad as before. best to try either T-cut to match the colour of your car or use Mer car polish.

Unfortunately touching them up or spraying is the only way to get rid of them completely. i've just done some spraying on my car over the last week and it now looks great :D just takes ages to do.

What did you use? Proffesional still spray thing or just a spray can? I need to sort out some damage to a previa. Thinking of doing it myslef a bit put off about getting colours to match. I've been watching alot of wheeler dealers on sky of late. They often do body repairs.

just used standard spary cans bought from Halfords. just have to make sure you cover the car well with plenty of newspaper. If you are going to do chips etc and it is only in a small area then i would reccomend usin a body shop.

if it is most of a panel i would try and do the whole thing then all the colour will match. i.e.on that panel

preparation is the key. you need to make sure the area is rubbed down with a glass paper and have a layer of primer if it has been rubbed down a lot.

When you are rubbing down the paint work use a 1200 then a 1500 grit wet paper and use with plenty of water. do this in between each coat.

i suggest doing this at least three times for an even coat.

leave the sprayed coat overnight then rub down using 1500 paper again. this is important so as it will be a smooth finish.

Then spray with a gloss. this needs to be left 15 minutes to dry then do another coat. if you leave it any longer the gloss goes a bit funny on second spray.

if you need to go over gloss coat again i.e. it hasn't gone on very smooth you will have to leave it at last a week for t to harden before you can rub it down and spray again.

hope this helps any more q's just ask. like i said though you really can't beat a professional body shop doing it for you.
