Is It Just The Battery...?

Probably a stupid question (I'm not too mechanically minded), but I thought if someone here has had the same problem it might save me a few hours taking things off that don't need to come off really.

Basically, when I went to start my 1.8 ST this weekend it's started to turn over very slowly then starts making a ticking sound.

Eventually it starts after a few goes.

Is it the Battery a bit flat or the starter, or some other known fault?

While we're at it, where is the starter on the ST?

Can't say I've heard of any faults like this, does sound like your Battery. Mine did this a few weeks ago and I noticed the water in the Battery was well low so I topped it up and it was fine. Sorry couldn't point you to the starter in the ST.

That was my first thought. If it was the starter I suppose it would just click without turning?

It was actually the Battery.

To quote the bloke who tested it "In laymans terms, it's b*****ed!"
