i know this sounds like a stupid street racing question but its not, im purely curios.

parkers says its 8.7 but parkers always talks rubbish.

has anyone ever actually timed it?

(first person to say sub 4 seconds gets a slap)

i roughly times it with my phones stop watch and that was 8.7 but i started on a bend coming out of a junction so i dunno, bit quicker maybe. well it should be now anyway

that wont matter on the 0-60, unless the bend was very sharp and there were cars blocking you at the junction.

i always said its 9secs to 60, even if it is 8.8 its hard to achieve in the real world, and its only 0.2secs

it's about 9 seconds, I think this is quoted by toyota.

I always thought the book figure - i.e. Toyota's official time was 8.7secs however most reviews refer to 9.0secs, so I don't know who to believe!

Sure it can be done in less then 9 seconds, i've timed it with a friend in the car and that was about 8.5 but thats so inaccurate, you really need a decent SATNAV or something to have a chance on getting an acurate time.

Brad =)

well it would because as you accelerate round the bend the wheel will probably spin up even more as the car leans slightly and lose traction therefore slowing the time.

its a shame santa pod doesnt record it when you go down the strip. would have liked to have seen mine on my fastest run

i said it would, if its a sharp bend, a slight bend wouldnt make a difference imo

It's about 3.5 seconds I'd say! :P

I've never timed it but 9 seconds sounds about right!

ever had a race on a track with a corolla tsport?, do it when they are cold, they don't get high lift so you can beat them no prob :D

The toyota brochures quotes 0-62 of 9 secs dead, but the 8.7 secs quoted elswhere is a 0-60 equivalent as obviously it takes it bit longer to get to 62mph! When asked I tend to say 8.7! Its all relative though as different conditions and weight in the car can probably adjust the time by as much as half a second. So not much point timing with a mate in the car as their added weight makes quite a difference in the small Yaris.

What would help quite considerably with the 0-62 time is if the car did 62mph in 2nd gear instead of about 57mph. Toyota wanted close gear ratios though for sharper acceleration.

Interesting point about the Corolla T-Sport. The quoted time for that car is 0-62 in 8.4 secs, so in theory in should edge the Yaris in a sprint. However if a Yaris driver got a better launch from standstill and conditions favoured the Yaris it could maybe just go the other way. Same applies to the standard Celica which is 0-62 in 8.7 secs so an even closer call! Its always amusing to beat a sports coupe in a sprint!

Both!

The 9 seconds is 0 - 100 KPH ( = 62 MPH)

The 8.7 is 0 - 60 MPH

Ah well, given that the EU now doesn't mind us Brits using our imperial measures, I'll happily quote a 8.7 figure to 60mph! It sounds so much better than 9.0.

I timed it a couple of times in the summer and got 9.6secs.. very inaccurate though, i hit the rev limiter farting around with the stopwatch on my phone.. poor thing.. oh and it was very hot which always makes a difference with heat soak n all that.

I won't believe any time unless its done with proper equipment and I dont mean Nokias or Seiko sports watches.

I wanted to do the 0-60 sprint at Silverstone last year but I thought straight lines were for !Removed! so I went on the track instead. :)

Were you using the car speedo though sphinktar? When mine says 60 its actually more like 53-56ish when using GPS.

yea that why i said it was out cause the speedo will ave been a good bit down

shudnt take to much longer to hit proper 60 tho as i think the rev limiter hits at about 67ish in 2nd

cant say ive hit it before but ive been close

switching in to 3rd wud lose me loads of time?

how much do these GPS's cost like?

theres no way its that fast lol

It is that fast, the civic type r strugles to get away from them (look on youtube).

Yaris tsport may be quick but i doubt it would keep up with the corolla 0-60, would be nice to see them up against each other tbh.
