Hi did you fit the stebel horn, if so how difficult was it as I want to have one on my Rav.

Had my firts service on the rav at my local toyota yesterday, all ok and only £91.67 not bad

Gwil

Hi Gwil, no, I haven't fitted it yet. Like the issue concerning hard-wiring the Road Angel, it looks as though you've got to pretty much dismantle the car to gain access to anything so I'm going to get Toyota to fit them both at the next pit-stop.

Steve

Yes Steve, you say both, whitch once are they?? After looking i have decided that Mr T can fit them. all the best Gwil

My Mrs drives one if that helps

Seriously... If you bought an older 3 door model, especially in the gold colour i would expect them to take the....

The new RAV is a beaut, especially the T180 which you are driving. I drive the RAV on weekends and love it. I've driven it off road and its very capable. 4wd came in handy on more than a handful of occassions. The new RAV with any diesel engine is a really superb car, the T180 even more so. It will be faster than most of their cars.

Enjoy :)

Digging into this old subject, purely 'cos I fancy a Rav myself, I noticed that the smaller 3 door versions seem to be favoured more by the female driver, where as M.r Macho seems to go for the 'Estate' 5 door version. To this though, both me and my good lady both prefer the later and both prefer the model that was superceeded a few years ago.

Funnily, we have a Yaris at the mo and both of us prefer the older one to the latest model too!

The new Rav may grow on us but as for the Yaris!

The 3 door is nice looking but if you want to place more than a couple of Tesco bags in the boot, go for the 5 door...(Bob will flame me for saying that..he he he)

In 2006 the lastest incarnation was launched - we refer to as the 4.3. I prfered the 4.2 to look at and went to buy one. It was as we we waiting to fill out paperwork etc that I took the dealer demo around the block and immediately decided to save up a bit more for a 4.3 (thats it over there <---). However, although the looks do grow on you after a while (you have to trust me on that) there is something classic if not iconic about the 4.2 and I think it will be one of those vehicles that will always have a following like a VW camper and a Mini.

As for the distinction between 3 doors and 5 doors. The 5 door was built for those that like a huntin' an' a fishin' but the 3 door is specifically for those that have problems reversin'

"TIN HAT - INCOMING!!!!"

Joke, Joke, aarghhh - I like the 3 door!!

I have a 2002 Balearic blue VX vvti 5 door which I recently purchased 090807 totally love this vehicle already, previous I had a Mini Cooper S and a 17 year old Mk1 Shogun (which I've had since new) the Shogun has never ever let me down it has 174000 on the clock and is in really good condition. The Rav4 is a totally new concept for me, It is so smooth and very very comfy, I filled up the tank and got over 400 miles on the first tankfull B)

As for being a womans car, no I don't think so, It's just a class act that some need to put in a "box" to help them justify what they have B)

Too right it is a class act :yahoo:

A little worried though, the wife has hinted that she could go on my insurance so that that she could also drive my beloved RAV from time to time! This is something she never even considered when we had the BMW.

So far I have played deaf to these ideas. :wheelchair:

Fujisan & chatman, I don't have the nagging wife problem, I'm married but she does'nt drive ;) I had quotes from one of the companies that insures multi cars on one policy, for me a suave, sophiticated, debonair, handsome, guy with a well ripped 54 year old body  for the Shogun (group 13) and the Rav4, £ 350 which I consider quite resonable B)

Selective hearing, yep definately sign up for that

My wife drives the RAV quite often and she is very good but I do have to brief her every time she goes to the supermarket as she will try to park in one of the letter box size parking spaces near to the door. You can tell when I am in the supermarket because you can see a dot on the horizon which is my car in the most remote spot.

Funny how it has a magnetic effect and when I get back to it there is a beat up Transit 10mm from one side and a 1964 LR 10mm from the other side :censor:s so with a 90% empty car park I have to force my way between my beloved motor and a nail to get back in it.

What is wrong with these cretins?

I have to take issue with that surely Land Rovers don't last that long do they? now if they were Jap, it would be built properly first time ;)

I agree totally with the parking thing, I have side steps on my Shogun and have just got a set for the Rav, not because I need them BUT they do help stop the low life cretins that take pleasure from throwing their door open against my pride and joy, they never have the balls to do it when I'm sat in the car :o

Good afternoon camper's, it's too nice to sleep all day.

Nagging wife, no way, heaven forbid :) No honestly she is great my wife  but......I did have to turn a deaf ear to her suggestion about driving the RAV. Not because she is not a good driver, she is a very good driver  and a lot more sensible on the roads than I am.

The only reason I am had a bout of selective hearing is I don't need anymore gray hairs and I would worry....about her and the car.

I am with Anchorman and the rest of you about parking at supermarkets  Park in the most deserted corner possible. Two minutes walk to the front door (even in the rain) never killed anyone. Amazes me when I see people trying to park practically in the front door of the supermarket

See you on the farside sometime! :bye:

I have been involved with Toyota off road cars/commercials since the Ark was launced. They are without doubt some of the best off road cars, even the newer RAV works well offroad. We used to run an off road weekend at Motor Safari here in North Wales (not anymore due to very high costs) and you could see the joy on peoples faces when a professional driver took a bog standard RAV/Hilux/Landcruiser off road to see what could be done. A lot of off road capability is down to the driver, not the car, for example, a fleet of Landcruisers were used to ferry VIP's around at this years F1 at Silverstone, an agency "driver" managed to get a Landcruiser buried up to the axles on a wet field. When he thought all was lost, an experienced off road driver engaged low ratio, diff locks etc etc, and had it out of what looked an impossible situation within a minute. It's not the size of yer ship but how you steer it that counts! Kingo

Well dearie... my Rav4 only looks girlie when I am wearing my stockings, suspenders, high heels and falsies... <gg>

The horn is a joke though... I am embarrassed to use it! I do have 120db. ships klaxon in my shed... trouble is, it works off 25 - 35 volt DC. If I can figure a way of getting the voltage jumped up... B)

DaveH

The car isn't girlie but the horn definitely is!

I remember getting a new 300ZX that had the same problem, standard Nissan horn used across the range including the Micra! I changed that one and I'll be doing the same to this one :D

I got the Stebel fitted now but I swear that Mr T has also left the originals wired in as well  So now I have a sort of transvestite sound whenever I feel the urge to 'honk'!

Whilst the Stebel is sucking air in readiness to growl the oem's are already giving it the 'beep beep'.

Come to think of it, Mr T also wired up the Road Angel with a constant feed that requires a physical disconnection to avoid a power drain.........not happy but it'll do until the next pit-stop.

You could always use your RAV as the Official Car at the next "!Removed! Pride" rally.....

:toot: :toot: :toot: :toot:

You could have daveh_rav4 in the passenger seat in his Stockings and suspenders.............
