I brought some red valve caps last week, I thought It looked quite nice on my T Sport, not to chavish!

Today I noticed someone pinched them!!. How sad do you have to be to do that!!!.

Are there any ways to make them harder to pull off?

Exactly the same happened to mine! Easy thing to steal though aren't they, 2 min jobby!

You can buy lockable valve caps. I had a set which used a small grub screw to hold them on, worked perfectly! Loads of sets on eBay so have a browse!

I tried those lockable caps on my Corolla. I watched a little scrote try to take them one day and fail - next day he came back with a pair of pliers and forced them off - damaging the valve threads. :ffs:

if you don't put the lockable one's on tight enough you can push down very hard on the top of them and turn them and take them off.

Not worth the £12.

Stick with the black plastic one's, no one bothers to nick them.

I had very shiny silver ones before the red ones. They didnt get nicked, although I might know why.

I didn't put any vaseline or grease on the thread, so after water and heat got onto the thread it was jammed solid. It took me a while to get them off with pliers and molegrips. Might try that on my next set.

I see it EVERY SINGLE DAY at work.. costomers come in to get their valve caps off, but they weld themselves on and stopping short of useing a chainsaw (We have actually only had to use it twice ;) ) we have to change the valves... this obviously has to be paid for, so it makes the cost of their "nice looking" valve caps even more expensive.

Take my advice.. if scroates are nicking your metal caps.. put the standard black plastic ones on.. could save you a small fortune in the long run.

Yes, I've had red ones and so-called "locking" chrome ones. Total waste of time and effort as they eventually get nicked.

thieves that get caught should have their hands cut off

If i caught someone nicking mine I would call the Police and get it taken to court... can you imagine the embarrasment at being infront of a judge for stealing dustcaps??

The locking ones are dangerous. Kids slash your tyres or damage your car if they cant get the caps off!

Why shouldn't you have the right to take it to court?.. it's theft and theft is a criminal offence, we all have the legal right to see justice done.

I do feel that the powers that be would probably try all there is to stop it going that far though.

If they do damage your car take them to court or to the police ..youre entitled to especially if you have proof who they are

I think black ones are better, as you can't see them, I can't understand drawing attention to them but each to their own. You have to be careful with locking ones, as they get stuck often. I used to have some light up blue ones on my (push)bike when I was younger, but took me forever to get them off when I got a puncture...
