Does anyone know where you can get these wheel covers for a reasonable price? I can imagine that Toyota will charge a fortune, just wondering if anyone on here has bought one? Its the hard case type that i would want.

Cheers.

I've not seen the same style unless they are ones from a RAV which do pop up on accasions. You can get similar but the seem to be black and chrome.

Happy hunting.

Cheers

Hi Procky,

Whats the story ? I bought my side bars from direct 4X4 a couple of months back and never had any probs.

As I'm thinking of buying other stuff from them, I would like to hear of your bad experience with them before

I go ahead. If you would rather send me a PM fire away.

Thanks,

Dave.

Continued ...... >

Fact is no one got murdered or anything, but a clear case of poor customer service and contempt for customers.

A few weeks ago I decided to fit a stainless wheel cover on my Rav, so bougt one on eBay from Direct 4x4. Same day I phoned them and paid with plastic. I was told delivery was 3 - 5 days.

A week later I emailed to ask where it was, and was told that "the guy who packs them is on holiday and no one else knows where they are". I was told it would be dealt with.

A few days later I contacted them again and was told they had "phoned the guy on holiday (in America), but the cover was not where he said it was". However he was due back on that Friday, so it would be sent by courier same day.

I phoned them the following Monday when it had not arrived. They said the guy was back from holiday, but the cover had been "at his house" while he was away and he had then forgotten to package it on his return. They promised they would send it "immediately" by ANC couriers.

I phoned ANC on Tuesday. They had it for delivery Wednesday AM. I phoned again on Wednesday at 5pm as it had not arrived. They said it had gone to wrong house, but would send someone for it. It finally arrived at 6.30pm, Wednesday.

When I opened it, guess what? It was the wrong size ! I phoned Direct 4x4 immediately - No answer! Closed?

I phoned again next morning, Thursday;-

Spoke to manager who said he "KNEW" it was the wrong size. He admitted that they "did not have the size I wanted, so they sent a bigger one, and hoped I could get enough adjustment on lock to make it fit!"At this point I had had enough and demanded it was collected and refunded. To 'rub salt in', it was Good Friday the next day, so collection could not be arranged till the following Tuesday! Finally it was collected on the Tuesday and returned to Derby. I got my refund 3 days later......

..... p.s. During this episode I contacted someone else who had previously bid on the same 'dutch auction'. The person told me his story, which was strangely similar to mine. .......

......p.p.s. After completion I emailed Direct 4x4 to offer positive feedback on grounds of refund - providing he gave me positive feedback for my original order and payment. He declined to give it first, as he 'didn't trust me' to give it back ... contemptible!!!

Moral of story .... Don't deal with this 'company' Direct 4x4 ..... :bann::banned:

chatman,

I agree that places can soon get a bad name .... and forums like this are one way of helping people NOT to make the same mistakes.

As for eBay .. I've been on it for about 5 years, and will probably continue .. but with care!

Cheers, Procky

I have got one . . . bought it on eBay to replace the one my wife cracked by backing into a pile of slates at the stables . . . . . . but then I fixed the original using fiberglass inside, and its being resprayed as we speak.

The spare I have is glossy black and also comes with the back mounting part which forms the complete casing for the spare wheel. Has the contour on the cover just like my OEM one . . . . . looks identical to the OEM one, so maybe be it is.

PM me if you are interested, I could send of post some pics.

Thanks for the help people! In the end we went for a different Rav4 which had already had a cover on.

We picked the car up today and its much quieter and smoother than the old shape which we replaced it with. Only managed to average 25mpg on the way home though (230 mile journey) and only managed 26mpg down there in the old one.
