Hello,

I would like to know if anyone has a Roof Rack fitted to a 3 door Aygo. I would also like to know if a tow bar is available for the Aygo too. I have done the usual google searches and found that the Aygo may not have been tested and passed the relavant tests for towing. I am looking at putting a mountain bike either on the roof or on a tow bar rack so wont be actually towing anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

There's no towbar for the Aygo, but Toyota CAN do you a special towbar-like

etup specifically designed to accomodate a Twinny Load Bike Carrier.

Here's a (very blurry) pic I fount on the web

And this one is on the back of an Aygo that's also on the Dutch forum

sorry for the width of the pic, can't find the code to scale it down

Hello,

Thank's for your reply. I went to my local toyota garage yesterday for my first service and enquired at the same time about both the bike rack and a Roofrack.

We can't get the bike rack that fits onto the back over here. I was told that they did a simular one for the rav but it was discontinued because it weighed an absolute ton. I also enquired about a Roofrack for the 3 door of which they do actually do. It works out quite expensive at £167 for the Roofrack and £77.97 for the bike carrier. Total would be £245.25, which in my opinion is a bit too much just to get a bike on the roof of my car. I think I will hold out for an aftermarket one to be developed and pick up the same baraccuda bike carrier off fleabay for £60.

You could try contacting a Dutch Toyota Dealer,

maybe they would be willing to help you?

Bodywork here, if you read the handbook it will tell you the Aygo is not suitable for towing, which olso means there is no facility to fit a towbar,(for instance to carry a cycle) so your only manufacturer recomended method is by Roofrack, and Toyota offers the best a Barracuda.

Picking up my £66.81 roofbars (3 Door) from Peugeot Plymouth, I'll let you know how good they are.

Just collected my new roof bars from Peugeot. Unlike the Toyota roofbars they are black not aluminium and don't have extra rails running along the length of the roof but they fit fine, £95 saved. I also picked up a set of 8 spoke Antibes alloy wheels with tyres and locking bolts (as new) from eBay for £200 + £45 postage, a snip I thought :)

Roofbars from Peugeot? Do they fit an Aygo then??? The rooflines at the back are

quite different, especially with the 5-door versions, so I didn't think they would fit...

Dont know if this helps but I can use my Thule aero bars with 751?footpack on my 5door aygo. Check out the Thule car configurer on the Thule site

If you go to the Thule configurator http://www.thule.co.uk/appguide/ the 5 door model accessories are identical, C1, 107 and Aygo. (Gutterless foot pack 750, bars 761 and rapid fitting kit 1444)

The 3 door model look slightly different towards the back and bottom of the rear window but the important bit, 35cm either side of the door opening, where the bars are mounted are identical.

Hi

Has anyone got a roof box for a 5 door Aygo? I've bought the 761 bars for my Aygo but am unsure as to what size roof box is appropriate for an Aygo. Any one have any ideas.

Thanks

Thank you REFZ aka The CityBug.

It looks great. I have measured the length of my roof and it is about 140/150 cm. Do you know what length/make your's is. It looks like it projrcts over your windscreen a bit, but that is with a fair bit of clearance at the rear?

I bought the box second hand and I don't know the brand of it.

I have looked at my box and there is a sticker inside the box.

The text is: WAVE 250 1300x930x380

So at this point I think it is a 250 litre box.

And the dimensions are in milimeters.

So the lenght is 1.3 metre and the width is 93 centimetre and the height is 38 centimetre.

That is really kind. Thank you very much. I have a diesel Aygo and it is a second car. I have actually got 83 mpg (is that 29 kilometres per litre?) out of it on a long motorway run so am hoping to be able to use it with a Roof Rack for holidays.

Thanks again.

Could be me, but when I do the math on the

given measurents I get 459,42 liters.

So if you take the roundedness and the thickness of the

material into account I still think you'll get 350 liters.

That looks pretty cool!

You should have it sprayed the same colour as your car!

Refz: what kind of fuel economy do you get pulling that around? Do you have trouble holding 120 kms/hr speeds?

I wouldn't feel comfortable with all those metal hooks hanging onto the GLASS rear hatch...

Looks like it wouldn't evenly distribute the weight of the load.

Plus it cuts you rear visibility down considerably.

Not for me.

Just bought my Toyota Roof Rack today. Seems solid enough, the plastic keys are a bad idea though.
