Wheels And Brakes

I've caught the flippin modding bug with my Celica and I've only had it since last Thursday!!!

What is the PCD/Bore/Offset for wheels on the ST202? I take it the wheels from the Gen7 Celica are a straight fit as I've seen a few pics with them fitted? For example, will these fit?: 8JX17, PCD 5X114.3, ET45, BORE 60.1

Secondly, from reading up on it on this forum, I take it new standard disks and upgraded pads are the way to go? I had a full report done on my car when it was in for a service on Tuesday and I will need new disks and pads all round in 3-4,000 miles. Toyota reckon this is why I'm getting a whirring noise on the motorway - worn disks/build up of rust on the rear disks... or are they fooling me? I told them I thought I had a bearing gone so surely if it was a rear bearing for example they'd jump at the chance to tell me I needed to buy a rear hub assembly for £140+VAT to cure it?!?!

Right firstly the wheel fitments are as follows

PCD: 5 x 100

BORE: 54.1

OFFSET: 35 - 45

(correct me if im wrong)

So no them wheels wont fit sounds more like a mr2 fitment

As for the brakes i had this with my ST and what it was were the brake pads had worn down

Apparently they have a lil wire thing to let you know they are low and i got my pads done and it was fine

In my opinion it wouldnt be the bearing as thast not a whirring type noise.

If you are to get pads i would personally get upgraded ones as on my mr2 since i had them done they do the job but are cheap so they squeak unlike good pads woulod

Cheers

Andy

Cheers for the info!

The wheel sizes I quoted were from a Lexus IS250! I want a Lexus/Toyota OEM wheel and I saw a set on eBay for £200 which would've been nice!

I guess I'm limited to the Avensis T-Spirit 17" 10 spokes or Gen7 Celica wheels...

As for the "whirring" sound - it does kinda sound like a bearing but your explanation sounds much cheaper to fix!:yahoo:

If you can find me 17" 6 spoke Compomotive MOs in white at the right price I'm your man! :D My favourite rally-slag wheel...

Why don't you just paint your stock toyota wheels with white, if you going racing 17"s is too heavy.

just my two cents. :)

I won't be racing, just like the rally 'look'... I will probably go for lowering springs and OEM 16" alloys, but tyres here are more expensive in 16" believe it or not so sometimes 17s are the cheaper option... and easier to find a nicer wheel because of th bigger choice!

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm thinkin of getting EBC disks with EBC Greenstuff front pads and standard Toyota rear pads (have these already). On eBay there is a rear set of disks which are for a ST202 GT but only from 93-95 (Part number GD744).

Now I've checked EBC's website and the only difference between these and the disks for the 95-99 (facelift) GT is that the pre-facelift disks are 1mm thicker - will this make a difference!?!?! I'd have to pay about £20 extra to get the right part number (GD1184)! :crybaby: What should I do!?!? I know £20 is not a lot, but I'm in the process of buying a flat so money is verrrry tight, especially after the money I've spent on the car so far!

Well if it were me I would pay the 20 and get the right part  Best not to mess around with the braking system. I realise money may be tight but just think what else would that go on? A takeaway? A few pints?

I forgot to say that by the time I got combined postage on the eBay stuff it would work out cheaper again though! Well if no-one else knows the answer then I'll have to fork out I suppose! :(

Heard that the greenstuff pads aren't all that Gary. Redstuff supposed to be much better

I went for 3G Discs and SARD Pads for the front of mine, not cheap but the brakes are incredible! :toast:
