Strange Thing On The Dashboard

Hello all, I've got a quick question for you.

I've got a series one (02 plate) 2.0 VVTi with a strange button-like thing on the top of the dashboard, just to the right of the air vents near the windscreen. Whilst it looks like a button, you can't press it, pull it or twist it, so what the blinking flip is it for? I've looked through the destruction manual but that doesn't even mention it....

It's the sun sensor for the climate control.

as james says....its the solar sensor for climate.

Yup its the sun sensor for climate control, when sunlight hits a certain level, it ups the fan output to compensate for extra heat from sun, damn clever these guys!!
