Ae86 Brake Upgrade Help Required

Hi all.....this is my first post on this forum and am hoping for some insider knowledge!!

I have a Corolla GT AE86 which I am using for various forms of motorsport. I am now going to be upgrading the car to enable me to go stage rallying and was wondering if anyone knows of any direct replacements for the brake calipers. I am looking preferably for a 4-pot caliper with a larger pad area which will fit to the standard strut mounts and will also fit under a 13" (standard wheel).

I don't want to have to go to 15" rims just yet as I have a limited budget and still need to buy exhaust system, seats, harnesses, uprated clutch and front suspension!!

Any replies gratefully received.

Ian.

Hi ian, Problem with 4 pot is that you need to change the brake disc. I myselve go to rx7 brakes but I don't think 13 " will fit (might even not fit 14")

You can check WillWood for seperate brake calipers. Also you can do the following to the brake system. Which makes it perfect for circuit days:

- All brake lines to steel braided (firmer paddle)

- Drain brake system full refill with Dot 5.1

- National brake discs with groves

- Mintex or Ferodo brake pads

-rebuild calipers kit from toyota

- Good master brake cylinder

If you done this you got a very good brake system. Mine always locked. So it depends how much you need it. If you truly race your car you won't be able to upgrade and keep 13". If its just for motersport fun you can do this upgrades and trust me the corolla will have more than enough stopping power.
