Dash Speed Neadle Appears To Bounce

I own a 1990 MR2, and find that the dash speed neadle appears to bounce, mainly worse at lower speeds. I can also hear clicking coming from the back of the speed-o unit.

Anyone have any ideas what that might be, as I was thinking a loose speed-o cable or the like? Might this be something I can fix?

Anyone heard of this before?

I have a 90 GT. I find in that when I not going very fast it'll bounce quite a bit. Nailing it through 3rd and forth and the needle just climbs steadily :D

From what you are all saying, I would guess that your speedo cables are worn - not surprising really after thirteen odd years!! I'm not sure how much these cost, but I would expect to pay in the region of £50 from MR T. If the cable is not the problem, I would suspect the speedo).
