hi to all i have just looked at a yaris 1.0s from a main dealer i know it is base car but has it is for my 18yr daughter insurance wise it will be fine well its a w reg 2000 with 29,000 full service history will have 12 months mot for £2700 does that seem ok ? got them down from £2900 only thing that concerns me on the test run a light was illumated all the time in the display it looked like a picture of a gearbox so i presume it is something to do with engine management garage says it will be fixed if i decide to buy car but what does this fault mean ? my daughter loved the yaris even though no power steering it was super light and clutch was also light thanks for any replies :)

also does the 1.0s engine have a cam belt ? if so when should this be changed ?

No cam belt on the Yaris, it uses a cam chain, maintenance free.

The Yaris is basically bullet proof.

Regarding the warning light, if it’s from a main dealer they will hook it up to there diagnostics and find the problem which will be something minor like a sensor or something.

29k with FSH for £2700? I would bite their hand off!

Haggle for full tank of fuel and some car mats and let them know you’ll be back in the future (potential life long Toyota customer)

A much better and less common car than an equivalent Ford/Citroen/Vauxhall/Peugeot

As TVOR said.

Brilliant little car, and if it weren't for the fact that my Vectra actually does make me smile, then I'd still have mine.

The light will most probably be the MAF sensor I reckon, but the dealership will confirm what the exact fault is.

No major common faults known on these cars. The usual Toyota squeak 'n' creak, but that's about it.

Some models had weeping window seals, but when compared to the other big manufacturers, the fault list is short in comparison.
