Hi All,

Since I'm still trying to figure out if and when was the T-belt changed on my car,

Can someone tell me if this could be it :

Yes it was done at 100,000km, what vehicle is it and how many km has it done now.

It's a toyota Hilux Surf SSR-X 2.4 DT and it has just reached 200 000km (I'm around 200 350 actually).

I bought it about 800 km ago.. (2 weeks ago).

So apparently the maintenance was well done (on time and according to periodic maintenance schedual).. The problem is that I can't find a schedual that goes beyond 160 000 km.. but seems I would have to do a big! big! maintenance job... pretty much like the 40 000 km one right!? Or would a 100 000 one be sufficient? :P

The official Toyota dealer in Sudan has given me a maintenance sheet that I'll scan and put online in a few days. According to it

Both maintenances (40k and 60k km) include Replacement of :

spark plug

Fuel filter

Coolant

CB Point/ condenser (dono what that is lol)

Engine oil & Filter

ATM Fluid

Transfer Fluid

Differential Oil

Adjustement of :

Parking breaks

Moon roof and power windows

Tyres

Lubrication of :

Steering knuckles Grease

prop shaft

Ball joint grease

Wheel baring greace

All doors hinges and locks

tail gate hinges

Inspection of everything else :P

Diference between the 40k and 60k :

Replacement (at 100k only and 200?!) and Adjustement of Active height fluids at 60/100k km

Replacement of clutch and break fluids + changing of the air filter at 40/80/120k m

Price difference thought is quite big : apparently 170 USD for the 60/100/k km and around 400 USD for the 40k/80/120k

Thats a huge difference isn't it?

According to a friend who is a mechanics at Renault Trucks these prices are a bit high compared to the market (he's going to check for the actual prices), I believe a big diference is the Labour cost : 30 USD for the Toyota shop, 15 USD on average or less, else where... (but the equipement and level of skills is probably lower), a lot of Asians mechaniques from thailand in Toy official shop compared to Sudaneese workers who tend to be a bit careless to say the least...

Now if I'm correct I should do the big one now: 40/80/120/160/200/240/280

And the other one be 20 000km later: 60/100/140/180/220/260/300

What do you racon?

Can I wait an other 50 000km to change the T-Belt (as on their schedual)?

The previous owner got it around 185 000km and was driving it since December. The last maintenance he has done was perhaps 2000 km ago... (changing oil and oil filter, cleaning the air filter) just a basic one thought... so to be on the safe side...? I dono? I start again from scratch and do the full maintenance to follow the schedual according to the proper kms? 400 USD (+/-300 euros) sounds resonable?

I think that your best option is to start again, go through the full service schedule, change all belts fluids and grease every thing you can, it's not worth taking any chances on what other people were supposed to have done.

I met a japanese guy today,

And he confirmed it's the timing belt,

he also read the date.. 7 years ago!

So it does need to be changed ilico presto... :P lol

I'm thinking about taking care of the fuel pump and water pump at the same time to save money on labour and get a brand new timing block... What do you racon? Anything else I should do at the same time?
