Obd 2 Connector

hi

i have a 2002 toyota corolla check engine light on, srs light on and parking brake light on.

i try to connect a scanner to the vehicle but "no communication massage" appears. i have power and ground to the connector on the car but yet can not communicate . when i bridge pins on the obd connector i get flash code 42 can anybody help with this code and tell me how to fix this problem.

i know that you can not get srs codes by briging pins on the obd connector and since the scanner can not comunicate with srs module how do i get the trouble code.

please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

What 'scanner' are you using? a lot of cheap code finders/scanners (such as Geniscan GS100 etc.) for OBD2 / EOBDsystems will just not work on most Japanese and German cars.

Also I am a little confused when you say 'code 42' as regards a vehicle with OBD2 / EOBD.

i'm using the carman scan. that is one of the best on asian cars. i never had a problem connecting on a vehicle.

i'm thinking there is something wrong on the obd connector on the vehicle. i check for power and ground and found ok.
