But not as you know it!

Picked her up yesterday with 60 miles on the clock...

Hopefully this time next week I will have nearly 1,000 miles done...

Anyone do mileage like this? What about fuel consumption at 70 on a long run? Comfort? And do we ALWAYS need to use 98 ron?

I had a Type-R which was fabulous but knocking on a bit, Comp feels superbly built, but very tight at the moment. No doubt time will tell????

My first post, so please go easy...

About 22MPG @ 70/80mph

I think i managed a good 300miles on a full tank when driving to london and back once. Bit noisy though :) Enjoyment counteracts the noise.

Im considering getting a compressor but im not even getting 300miles to a tank in my t sport lol. Is 22mpg accurate oldskoO1? Anyone else got any mpg figures??

yeah easy 300 miles on a tank i drive back and forth from Aberdeen every 2 weeks only fill up when i leave home and gets me back no problem with just over a quarter of a tank.

My wife has been driving mine round recently, I couldn't believe it, the Av MPG is reading 47.

We have a small baby, so I guess that explains some of it, but it goes to show you can get good fuel economy if you really wanted.

Thats impossible on a compressor even if you drove using the new efficient technique published recently.

Plus the compressors dont have a MPG computer read out. It must be a standard TS with a faulty radio unit. I had mine replaced when i had it. I can't even get 47MPG from T180 and thats a diesel.

Just arrived back home... Been in Banbury and Hungerford, and I stay in Ayrshire, SW Scotland. First tank I reckon I got almost exactly 27mpg, that was about 100 miles locally and 200 Motorway at 70 (HONEST!!!) Second tank, which was nearly all motorway, I reckon on 30mpg @ 70mph. On my third tank now, and was doing pretty well till I came off the Motorway at Gretna, and travelled up through Dumfries, and reckon I will be below 27mpg. By the way the reason I know this is I need to keep mileage spreadsheets for taxman, and add a fuel calculation in for myself. Must admit I am starting to enjoy her now. Build quality seems superb, but have a dodgy alarm that goes off as the day gets warmer!! In the dealer tomorrow.

When i had the compressor my alarm was dodgy too :D

I think i did around 80mph most of the way to london and that dramtically effects fuel economy. Almost 5mpg difference for me. I get the same effect in a RAV4 XTR and a T180 Auris. 70mph great, 80 drops a lot.

Dealer reckons that it was bonnet switch, I will take there word for it, and hopefully no more probs. Must admit I didn't have the time to have a look myself...but if it goes off again...(I will not mention my old job  )

Right then, no more alarm problems, since dealer amended bonnet switch with a BIG bar...

Today I passed the 5000 mile mark on my way home from Derby, and she is running a dream. Fuel consumption is 30/31/32 mpg on a mway run at 70, not exciting but relatively legal and safe....ish. (Loads of twits on mway) Local runs is giving me 25mpg Must admit admit one thing that really cheesed me off coming home today was cop car "hiding" in a Mway "layby" hanging out his window with a speed gun, easy money mate!!! ( I am NOT anti police in any shape or form)

I am going to ask the question again regarding "lift" I definetely get it after a long run on the mway, but nothing running about at home, so come on Toyota what's the score here?... Any other Compressor get it or not...

More beer now

Cheers all

You only get lift above 6000 rpm.. this is where the engine goes into high lift cam and keeps the valves open a little longer so more fuel/air gets in.. bigger bang = more power.

You don't feel it as much with the compressor as we also have "boost" which gives us more power throughout the full rev range compared with a standard T-sport.

cfc1, with all respect I know a fair bit about turbo's and just a little about compressors (really should be called superchargers?) Anyway, my Corolla gets lift at 5200 after a run as stated, NOT at 6000.(Am I lucky?) Really annoying thing is that I need to do loads of miles to experience this. (See my recent post ref miles)

Guys (gals?) There are around 20 of us in here with Comp's, what are your views? Don't be shy now...

Hi mate,

I had alarm probs as well when I frist got the car, would'nt arm properly, guess what - bonnet switch!

About the lift thing i only normally do short journeys but I did a longer run to silverstone for the GP on motorway at 70ish and when I came off the lift was much more noticable than normal as you say. I think its possibly something to do with the 'inteligence' part of VVTL-I it learns the way you drive and is always looking to give the best economy by changing the timing, so a long run at 70mph which is very easy for a car with 215hp it will probably be in its most economical mode and as soon as you demand full power plus the lift kicking in, the jump from if you like 'low power' to 'full power' will obviously be more noticable than a jump form 'normal' to 'full' power.

Not sure if this is right but its all I can think of, as long as the lift works I would assume that all is well unless anyone knows different.

By the way I love my compressor only things I would change are, getting rid all the annoying beeps (reverse, seat belt, VSC etc) and I would like to be able to turn off all traction aids to make it a bit more fun on the track

Hope this helps.

Strangest thing, I had my new ECU fitted which made the car smoother and ironed out most of my running problems.

However, where I used to feel the lift at 5200rpm I cannot detect it anymore although the car is still pulling strong

I've mailed TTE about it so we'll see what they say.

Apolologies for late reply, been on hol..

I have to agree with you 100%, looks like the "Intelligent" bit, perhaps "really is intelligent?" We do not need 100% on the mway, but boy is it nice just to get a kick when you pull off. By the way I think it is really easy to get lulled into a sense of "lack of power", try driving a PT cruiser, with aircon on, then jump in the Compressor!!! (yep I suffered one on hol, cheap, big, and slow. but OK for 4 of us)

Cheers....
