Hi, i just got my first celica (gen 4 liftback 1993) and cant get it on the road as i cant find the alarm or immobilers model... so cant get to complete the insurance form.

Ive search the forum, and googled for a few hours and had my head under the bonnet etc...with no joy.

Anyone got one the same and know the name of the bog standard alarm and imobilser, or know where in the car i can find this info.

Any help appricated as i "really" wanna get on the road today!

Ok, got it semi-sorted... well insured for driving anyhoo...

For anyone in a similar situation, a few insurance companys (direct line, tesco etc) wont insure this car for theft under the bog standard alarm/immobilser combo, even if you get proof it has one fitted, its has to be one from a list of pre approved alarms, of which the factory fitted one is not included.

so If you phone them up you can get it insured for driving etc, just not for theft... stick it in the drive, dont leave it out for the neibours to peek at untill you've added another pre approved alarm... or just leave it uninsured... if its in the drive, would it be included in house insurance? surely if someone nicks your keys, then it doesnt matter what alram you got?
