Removing Interior Trim

Car is a 3 door Yaris P2. Can anyone guide me in removing the interior trim panel that is behind the rear quarters of the car. Hard to describe but if you were sitting in the back seat behind the driver its the big black panel underneath the rear side window. It seems to 'pop off' towards the bottom but there must be tabs somewhere as I can't see any screws.

I'd buy a haynes manual but once I've used it for this I'd have no use for it as it doesn't cover the t-sport!

As far as I remember there are no any screws there but first you have to remove the plastic thing on the bottom of door opening with yaris text on it. This holds the bottom of the panel you want to remove.

No screws so just yank

Best place to start is to take the door sill off and then yank from the bottom corner across

Tip seats outta the way, and just like on a lonely night, keeping tugging!

There arent any screws, there are just poppers the whole way round it.

So:

1.) Remove your sill cover from the door sill (just pops off, use a flat screwdriver to get it started.

2.) Use a flat bladed screwdriver to pop out the bottom corner of the panel (beside where the sill was)

3.) Move round the panel popping out all the poppers by sliding your fingers in behind it and pulling towards you, but dont try and actually remove it yet, just pop all the poppers out and leave it sitting in place.

4.) Now that the panel is still sitting in place but is not popped in anymore thanks to you pulling all the poppers out, lift it up and towards the front of the car and it should lift out.

5.) Refitting is reversal of removal, sort of set the panel across and down so it sits into place then whack all the poppers back in.

No need to use a screw driver as you can normally do it with your fingers.

Just lift the door sill in one of the corners (I started in the corner closest to the front) and then just pull it up and across to the other side.

Then to remove the actual back panel fold your seats up and get into the back of the car and just start pulling from the bottom corner near the door sill.

No need to put your hand behind etc - just pull it off as it wont break.

You'll see what the clips are like when you start lifting it up from the corner ...... it's a really simple job and you dont have to worry about breaking the clips as they are pretty tough/well built

Also the poppers just aren't just around the edge, but it's a 1 min job if that to remove it.

The hardest part is getting the panel out from between the seats and side and then out of the car ;)

Yeah thats the hardest part you sort of have to lift it up and to the left, once you work out the right technique its easy though. I needed a screwdriver to start mine off  lol

Cheers for the replies guys. Also found a very useful guide from YarisGLS here:

Getting it off was no bother, getting it back on was a bit trickier. Word of warning - those poppers often get stuck on the bodywork rather than the piece of trim so when you reattach the trim, remember to prise off any poppers that are stuck to the car and attach them back to the trim. Obviously they're not held in place very securely on the trim and when you're lining it up with where it's meant to go they can pop off (you can re-jig the seats around but they're always in the way). Luckily there's a piece of sponge to stop them falling into the sill and rattling forever but be careful!
