Ipod Connector And Navigation

Hello all,

I just got my new Auris and I'm very happy about it!

The only thing I don't like about it is the ipod connector, which doesn't display the playlistname and trackname on my screen!! I have looked everywhere in the manuals, but can't find the word ipod anywhere..

It uses the cd changer, and this is why I can only choose between 6 playlists displayed as numbers between 1 - 6.

The Ipod connector which I payed £180 for (in norway) is just as expensive as an ipod, so I expected it to work like an ipod, with full menu access through the touchscreen..

Does anyone else have the ipod connector and have any problems with it?

I'm dissapointed!!

There is an iPod integration kit as part of the Auris Tech pack. This has to be ordered from the factory with the car. At the moment, this Toyota kit isn't available as a retrospective fit, but it does integrate fully with the Toyota music sytem, steering wheel controls and display.

In Norway it was an accessorie in the catalogue..it probably is the same as the one in the tech pack, as I can control it from both the steering wheel and the touchscreen..The only problem is that I can't see the titles of the playlist or the track, just numbers..And I can't go into the ipod menu's to select artist, album etc...

We've not actually supplied an Auris with this kit yet so I'm afriad I can't offer any further advice. I was definately under the impression that the screen would give you full functionality with proper track & title listings. I'd be intereted to know if you find out any more?

When i got my Auris with "toyota original ipod integration kit" i was sure it will at least show my the title of the song in the radio display, i was very dissepointed when i realized i can see minimum information.

here are some text form the ipod integration kit manual so all of you can see in page 10 that there is an option to see additional track information on the radio display. for some reason usuing the "text" button in my auris does nothing.

You should go to your dealer and complain..It's probably just a software fault and can easily be fixed with an update..

I hope everyone who bought the ipod connector complaines about it so that toyota will make it work properly!

Hi, my Auris is on the way, with an Ipod connector too, and I am afraid this is not a software 'fault' . A friend bought a VW Touran recently with Ipod connector and he has the same display, just playlist n° and title n°, no names. It actually reacts to the IPod as if it was a CD Changer (which is the other option available on the Auris too, thus feeding my suspicion)...

I will keep you posted when I have my baby and tell you how it appears on my autoradio, but this post just confirms the 'fears' I had when I ordered it  ...

It is possible to retrofit the connectioncable. With navi it won´t show title just song 1, song 2...

I got an extra Ipod who is always connected in the upper glovebox and nevet touch it exepts for update new songs once a month.

With Ipod connected press mode till CD1 shows. You can change what the display shows by press "text" anc choose between playlist, title or Disk x Tr x

You change song by "seek track ><" on stereo or quick press on steeringwheel control.

Change playlist by press "disk ><" on stereo or long press on steerringwheel control.

Random and repeat works too.

I got my Auris on Monday. Love the car!!. Had the Tech Pack fitted mainly for the i pod, must say I am very disappointed with the i pod controls. Have a Alpine Head unit fitted on my old car and could search by Album/Artist/Song just as one does on the i pod itself.

Think we have paid alot of money for a 2nd rate product here. Come on Toyota get it fixed!!!!

I live in Spain and got my new iPod conection kit yesterday. I have an Avensis 2007 with the new touch screen navigation system, which I think is the very same that that in the Auris.

The same than others, I only can choose between 6 different playlists, with no possibility to press any 'text' option as there is no such button. Even to choose the 6 next playlists, I have to play the last song of the 6th list and wait until the system detects the additional folders.

I'm not sure if this weird functioning of my navigator+ipod conector has solutions or not, as supposedly this ipod conector is the new one coming to the market at the end of this month.

Maybe also a matter of software compability? I have a nano Ipod with the latest firmware version (just updated through itunes a few days ago)

Thanks from the not so sunny Spain (at least these days and in the nort)

It's not just Toyota Ipod connectors that do this. It's the same on the Seat (I have a Leon) factory fit ipod connection too :( I think it's awful.

On the Seat system

Buttons 1-5 control the first 5 playlists, assuming you've named them "1 <name>", "2 <name>" etc...

Then button 6 lets you play all the songs on the ipod, if you put the play order on random then it will play any song from any playlist (or just any from the ipod) ... it's not very good really.

mp3 cds are MUCH better, in terms of what information is displayed on the head unit, plus you can browse folders pretty easily - but of course you're limited to the amount of music you can fit on a CD. Lose, lose situation all around methinks. :(

All i know is that the ipod connection replaces the CD changer and Aux in on the VW/Seat system. You can have only one. So I guess it's similar on the Toyota. At more than double the price of the Seat for the Toyota ipod conn.. I would have hoped you'd get more than double your money's worth. I feel sorry for you that it's not the case.

First thing I'm going to do when I can afford it is get a sat nav fascia surround and a double-din head unit that integrates PROPERLY with an ipod.

Just got my Auris this week, the ipod connector was fitted by the dealer who asasured me that it works the very same as the factory fitted option.

First time I used it I experienced the same problem as you, with access to only 5 or 6 playlists. Then I discobered that if I put the ipod into shuffle mode before connecting it, I can access all my playlists. I've created a playlist for each album on my ipod for easy access, it means scrolling through a long list but it works!

I have also AURIS and try to connect the IPOD adaptor to it - with no lack.

We try 4 adaptors, but all didn't show any names in the radio's screen and have the same behavior anyone say before.

The "TEXT" in the radio- did nothing at-all.

I also got an odd anwser from pre-sales@incar-support.com saying this:

"Hi A , The problem we have is that the Toyota's don't have a 'standard' head unit, they have around 6 available... If your vehicle has a head unit called a Navi B9001 then we can do a kit for you. The kit you describe isnt the kit we sell though, its the specific Toyota kit (which incidentally costs around £600) Thanks again Matt "

BUT yesterday I fond a video's clip in YTUBE ,post by "llondru " = and it show THAT TEXT is ON THE RADIO SCREEN:

I did send a note to this auris's owner, name : reichel - and he send me back this :

" I ordered it from my local store @ Toyota, when ordering the car, it came with it from factory (costed me about 200 EUR)

You should ask your official toyota dealer.

Regards "

I am now very surprise and plane to go back to my Toyota's dealer to demand getting the correct adaptor that TOYOTA-EUROPE promis in the video clip on this address:

http://www.toyota-europe.com/own/accessories/ipod.aspx

http://www.toyota-europe.com/Images/ipod_i...m280-567808.zip

There are now two ( at list) proffs that we, the owners of AURIS ,must get the correct kit - as toyota promised us

please let us know if anyone get the correct kit

Hi, I'm llondru, the author of the youtube video

The fact is that my dealer didn't know of this option before I told him  . I bought it in Andorra, wich is part from Toyota France, tough I live and work in Spain. Here in spain when I asked information about it nobody knew nothing either(everyone told me the car was "too new" :censor: to know all the options)

I ordered it with this option and integrated bluetooth from factory, so I guess the people who you are dealing are absolutely ignorant of wich adaptor to put. And don't get fooled by the price, it shouldn't cost more than 200€ (it's the same price put in by local dealer o by factory)

Glad I could help :)

I think they don't talk english, so that may be a problem

Anyway, I think Toyota in your country should solve the problem (not the dealer, the make)

The only thing I don't like about it is the ipod connector, which doesn't display the playlistname and trackname on my screen!

Hi

I just came across your post as I'm looking for a solution myself. I'm driving the Auris D-CAT (T180) with full navi (touchscreen navigation) and iPod connector.

According to my local Toyota dealer the problem exists only with the full navi, because the iPod is treated as a CD changer. With the normal radio/CD and the iPod connector it is possible to see the trackname. However, not with the touchscreen navigation system.

I guess Toyota has to update their software and then it might work the way I expected it for that high price (my iPod offers much more and was way cheaper...)

Regards,

AurisFan

Hello,

I've just bought a Auris including TNS700 navigation and Ipod connection factory installed.

Indeed i have the same problem like all people in this side. I hope Toyota is fixing this problem as currently the ipod connection is not doing what it should do!

I have tried to connect the Ipod when it's set to shuffle, but still only 6 playlists are accessible from the TNS700 control.

I'm considerind buying the ipod connector kit for a standard radio but after reading this topic it seems like a waste of money.

Can somebody confirm if i can only access playlists. Will it not support searching and selecting an album. I do not think it is worth the money if i cannot select an album or artist.

Also can you use the ipod click wheel itself manually to select a album/track when it is connected or is the ipod screen locked out when it is connected to the toyota head unit.

Okay, it seems everyone has a problem with the Toyota iPod integration kit!

I can get playlists up, artists and albums but the random function just plain refuses to work and there doesn't appear to be a way of cycling through the songs on one album, you have to listen to it all the way through from the beginning, I'm getting sickk of only hearing the first few songs from any album or playlist!!!!

I simply want to know – is there a manual I can download or get from Toyota????!

The dealer I bought from said no manual actually exists, but I don't believe this is the case.
