07 Avensis T-spirit

Hi,

Just to say, my new Avensis arrived, at least 4 weeks quicker than anticipated. And the full sat nav is not at all what I expected.

I basically expected exactly the same as in the 04 T-Spirit, pop up screen. But the one I have is a touch screen one with the stereo built in. It has built in traffic management stuff, which lists road closed, queueing traffic, and accidents. and diverts the route if there is one ahead. It still has all the maintenance stuff you can add.

On the whole it is a splendid car, and much better than the 04 one I have just got rid of. The 6 speed box makes a difference, the clutch is a lot lighter. The tyres aren't as lower profile, and the ride is quieter, and smoother. Not sure about the mpg yet. It only takes a blip of power to reduce the MPG significantly. Still showing 470 miles clocked, and a 1/4 tank left. the display doesn't seem to tally up.

I ordered it in Feb, the order was placed in March at the dealer, and it was delivered last week. But I was told to expect it in June.

The stereo is good, the sat nav is excelllent, and the car is just faultless. I have two minor niggles. With the windows open the turbo whistles slightly, and sometimes when you first set off it makes a small sound like running over a tin, or plastic bottle. I took it to the local dealer today, just to make sure all was well, and he said that it was the ABS pump priming. It may do it all the time but I only hear it occasionally.

On the whole a very pleased bunny :)

Yep, when I had my Avensis, as soon as you got to a few (maybe 5 or 10mph) the ABS did its thing and you heard a "crunch" type sound. It may have been the ESP thing rather than the ABS, but either way it was natural.

The Crunch noise is a self diagnostic check and I always hear it in the first 10 secs of moving off.

(though strange why Avensis do it, and all the other cars I'v driven with ABS don't)

I read in this forum that some members had to wait a long time for their cars as Toyota are phasing out the old 'turn by turn' sat navs. All new 07 models have been upgraded to full map sat navs.

Is this the one you have?

oh.. the new sat nav also comes with iPod connector! (now that is something new)

It doesn't come with an iPod connector, but it can be ordered with one from the 1st June!

I'm hoping that it can be retrofitted to my T180 that arrived on the 24th May!

That's normal. It happens in my T Sport and it is the ABS doing its thing
