Be nice to me I am new and please pardon my ingorance

I have just purchased a 1999 RAV 4 GX 5 seat and discovered that it needs its 8 year / 72K service

I have been quoted £176.00 by Listers Toyota is this good? also does anybody know if this is a Intermediate or a major service, by my calculations it should be a major so £176.00 seems a little cheap

:yahoo:

Cheers

Hmm not a major one at 72K... 80K is the next major service. Had my 70K and it cost me £120 at a Franchise Toyota dealer.....

I would call a few garages to get a reasonable quote differences.... don't always take the first as being good....

Just my 2p worth....and welcome to the club :thumbsup::thumbsup:

As chatman says it does really pay to phone round and get some quotes the savings can be a lot of money.

Also many Toyota dealers provide discounted servicing for cars over 3 years and the older the cars become the cheaper it becomes some dealers also run a discount card scheme which gives discount on repairs

That's what the forums are for... a good spread of advice from like minded people...sometimes serious and others light hearted and humorous......:lol:

Always a good place to be........enjoy your RAV and update all on it's running and enjoyment.....

(thank yourself for not buying a LR Freelander) that's the humorous part.......

Karl,

welcome to the club, could not agree more with everything said above. If you read some of the older threads on this forum you will get a lot of useful information. If you get a chance add a photo of your Rav like others have done.

Cheers,

Dave. (ex owner of two freelanders, but ok now that the pills are working)

Welcome to the club Karl  hope you are enjoying your RAV4.

I recently book my RAV4 into have a small service (2004 model ) , first they quoted £130 then after a bit of haggling i got it down to £109, so it always pays to ask for a better price :) .

When Gold membership existed there were a few garages near me who gave 10% off but that option seems currently out. Anyone know when it might come back?
