Lack Of Boost?

hi can anyone help with my st165

its had some mods done,

decat, metal head gaset, the tvs thing removed,

dump valve,boost controler,

FC/D ,intercooler pump on full time,

oil catch can.

boost set at 9psi.

colder plugs.

right the thing is its not boosting the boost gauge will read 9psi but nothing happens its just like there's no turbo!

theres no smoke coming out the back on boost and ive checked the actuator with a tyre inflator and as far as i can tell its opening at about 10psi you can just see the arm move.

i cant find and split pipes but then most are not that old changed last year of some blue silicon ones

any ideas??

thanks

simon

Umm, have you had the pressure checked with a known good gauge. If the boost gauge is showing 9psi and is good then it must be building pressure somewhere... Where is it plumbed into?? If the pressure reading is taken from the manifold then I would say you need to get the fuelling and base timing checked. Try taking out the FCD as see if that makes any difference, not sure on the exact setting but I think the 165 fuel cut was arround 10-12psi so you should still be ok with 9psi. Base timing should also be 10 degrees.

Also any particular reason you have the chargecooler pump set to always on?

It's actually better to leave it as toyota designed it for daily road driving as when you stop in traffic the pump stops and the fluid in the radiator stays cool, then when you start off again the pump starts up and the cooler gets a dump of cold fluid, where as if the pump is always on all the fluid in the system is warmed up as there will be no airflow through the radiator to cool it...

hi yes the gauge is ok i changed it a few months ago when the cheap F+F one started playing up , and yes its plumped in to the manifold so im getting 9psi there.

all the mods to the car had been done before i got it,

so ive left well alone as its my frist GT4 i was more of a supra man before..

now come to think of it it could be fuel, as when on boost and not going forward there is a smell of fuel..

thanks ill get it checked

simon.
