Input Converter

I want to change my speedo on my gt4 185 import because it has the jap one on it and not the uk spec.

I put a post out asking how to do this.

Someone told me that I don't need to change it, but get a imput comverter.

I'm not sure if i'm right, but if I get one will it use the kph part of the speedo and convert that into mph.

So rather than looking at the outside of the dial I look at the inside.

Can anyone tell me if this is what he meant and how do I do it/ cost etc.

Thanks Guys

Murray

hey i mentioned the input converter but im confused now.

my speedo has one scale that goes from 0 to 180 km/h. which is what i thought all jap cars were as standard. why would they have miles on there clocks??

mine is the gt4 st205 so maybe thats the difference, spoke to a car electrican friend of mine today and he says the converter just slows the signal by 1.6 times so the km/h scale now reads in miles. (1 mile = 1.6 kilometers).

seen these on eBay, mate says they should be ok so goin to give it a try:

Shaun is right, you have 2 choices,

Get a different speedo face which will only read upto 120mph and place that over your kmh face.

or

Get a signal convertor and use that, keep your current clocks and the needle will rise in mph instead of kmh.

Got a feeling the convertor for the 185 and 205 differs though

Can deffo be done though, i've done mine
