Hi there

I have a 2006 Rav 4 XT5 with factory fit navigation system. Does anyone know the best way to hook up my ipod to the system - all the usual online suppliers dont make mention of the Toyota Nav system - as I dont think there is a CD changer input Im stumped...

thanks

Alex

I've got an XT4 and use an iTrip. In fact, I've just bought the version that includes a cradle that plugs straight into the dash cigarette lighter socket - looks unstable but it actually works fine.

Hi Alex

When I posted on a previous thread I was kindly given the link : http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com/find_SM.a...d=1〈=En .

If you search within here you can find instructions for the dealer install of an Ipod that sits in the top glovebox, hard wired through to the stereo. I am not sure if this is available in UK or not The instructions maintain that it gives you menu's/playlists etc on the screen of the stereo.

It may be worth a look or contacting your dealership. If you do get anywhere would you post back and let us know.

Thanks

Richard

FWIW the Nav System does have the newer Toyota standard 12 pin cd changer (avclan) connector. In the image, It's the black connector, second from right at the top (The unit is upside down in the picture).

I used a Connects2 aux adapter (CTVTYX001) in my old 4.2. I tried connecting this to the 4.3 Nav System via a conversion harness (I think CTVTYX002 would connect directly without the converter harness). It got recognised by the System as a CD changer, which is what it did in the 4.2. If you repeatedly press the CD button it will cycle between the the CD changer (aux adapter) and the internal CD.

BUT, there is a problem, I suspect the Connect2 adapter is not completely compatible with the Nav System as you only get short bursts of audio from the aux adapter. However it's encouraging and I expect it can be made to work. Indeed other adapters may work off the shelf.

When I get the time, I'll build an avclan sniffer (similar to here - http://www.softservice.com.pl/corolla/avc/index.php) to see what's going on.

If anybody else has found an aux adpater that works, it would be useful to know.

Cheers
