Wing Mirror Broken

Hi All

I'm new here :) I did post on the Newbie thread above to say Hi at the weekend but I came out of the house this morning to see that someone had hit my passenger side wing mirror :crybaby:

The mirror itself isn't smashed, but it was bent right back so the plastic fascia bit has a big crack, and it's quite loose. The mirror bit seems 'stuck' in that the woggle (sorry can't remember technical term) on the inside of the car won't move it.

Toyota have quoted me £48 plus vat for the wing mirror, £25 to fit it, then a further £29 plus vat to spray it to match the car.

Pretty gutted I have to say - a few other cars on the street were also 'got' including my husbands who's wing mirror had been knocked clean off. I did ring the police as there's CCTV at the end of the street but I'm not supposing they can do much. I'm not sure if its kids, or a big lorry!

Does this price seem ok? I was thinking of getting a few quotes in from independent garages but I want a proper job doing, especially if its needing to be sprayed.

Cheers

HM

Local spray place will do it alot cheaper than that and you can source a wing mirror on eBay for as little as £20! fit it yourself aswell as its only three screws behind that plastic triangle!

Sorry to hear someone hurt your little yaris!

Thanks for the reply :) On looking at it, as its just the plastic bit thats cracked I'm wondering if I can get the wing mirror off, I might try and glue it back together. Can't afford to replace it at the moment unless I got a bargain!

Might have a go this afternoon, had a quick look this morning but couldn't get the triangle off. Scared of causing even more damage.

My poor little car is going through the mill at the moment!
