Auto Box Top Up?

hi guys how you check oil in auto box does it have too be running in neutrel???? or running in drive or what???? also do you top up down dipstick tube and what with plz ta john

Hi mate

yeah you top up down the dipstick tube (funnel makes it loads easier). There are 2 sets of marks on the dipstick, hot and cold - which should speak for themselves. A short 3-5 mile trip should put you in the 'hot' section.

Keep engine running and cycle through the gears P-R-N-D-2-1-2-D-N-R-P, then go check the level and top up a bit and check again.

Firstly though, just have a look at the oil on the auto box dipstick. It should be cherry red (or thereabouts) and smell...er...sickly sweet?? :-)

If its not you're probably best off dumping the lot and refilling rather than topping up.

thanks mate for info will check at weekend .now it wont start in the morning guess the glow plugs gone !Removed! up too .will sort them also ta john
