"accessory" Wheels

Just took my car in for them to have a look at the wheels, as the shiny stuff on my alloys is flaking off.

They agreed to replace them  but the manager appeared surprised they were in the state they were in, and that they are 'Accessory' wheels. Does this mean that they're not alloys then?

I should have asked but didn't want to appear stupid! (so I'm asking on here and appearing stupid here instead).

Car is a 54 plate, 17K on the clock.

Thanks in advance of any replies!

Yaris blue's did come with alloys, maybe he means they are not the standard alloys for the car and that you bought other ones from there accessory range. e.g. larger or different designed alloys

nice to see someone else from north wales, where abouts are you.

Most of the standard wheels always end up flaking. There's only a handful of people who's haven't.

Some have even had up to five sets before the warranty has expired, that's how bad they are.

which dealer did you take it to?

I can't remember much about buying it (was just so excited about getting a new car!) but I do remember we paid extra for the alloys. Can't remember how much though.

Oh dear, thats worrying. Its out of warranty in September. Are mine really alloys then? Sorry to sound so dense but why are they flaking?

I took the car to Premier, in Llandudno Junction (my closest dealer) They've been great I have to say  Nice to see someone else from NorthWales too :)

Cheers for all the replies!

It's the lacquer coming off, and all the dirt and everything else getting into them and corroding them.
