Remote Control Thingy

Hi .. my car is coming up for 2yrs now.....this might sound like a stupid question but when i park my car in a certain spot when i go to work i cant always lock my car with the remote thingy..the red light flashes though but nothing happens ..so sometimes i have to lock it just using the key..how ever today i locked it ok this morning then i couldnt unlock it with the remote..so i manually opened the door which set the alarm off!!!!!!!although the alarm went off when i started the engine......is the Battery neded to be changed in the remote????or is there some other reason???dosnt do it anywhere else,,just were i park my car,,and its only just started to do this....... :angry:

Hi Pen,

You will find that some certain locations cause car keyfobs to work erratically or not at all due to things such as nearby transmitters, concrete walls, other cars etc.

This effect is always made worse when the keyfob Battery is on its way out. After two years I suspect that this is what is happening to yours.

You will find a small screw on your key fob, undo this and replace the Battery, I got mine from Halfords but I should think that they may do this for you if you ask them as it can be quite fiddly, or even a Toyota garage will do it.

I did both keys because even the one which is not used will die with age.

P S You will NOT need to re-progamme the key afterwards.

The differance a new Battery makes is amazing!!

,,,do you know ... i think thats exactly it,,,because it has only lately started to do this,,but when i park it anywere else ,,,it locks........i am going to change the Battery..thank you for that...and i will change them both...Thank You ..P.P.
