Hi,

I'm currently destroying my gen 5 celica as i've changed the HT leads and now it keeps misfiring. I'm think i may have got the leads mixed up. Can someone tell me what postion the leads should be on the distributor to cylinders. If you are looking at the engine from the passengers side you have 4 points on the distributer but which cylinders should each one go to and which may do the cyclinders run? i.e left to right.1-4 or right to left ,1-4?

Good luck . Hope it's not anything serious .

The firing order is 1-3-4-2. To find the correct position for number 1 - Remove the distributor cap and set the engine to TDC using the mark on the crankshaft pulley. The Rotor arm will now be pointing to the corresponding position for number 1 plug lead on the cap. The rotor rotates clockwise so the next lead clockwise is for number 3 the next will be number 4 and the last will be number 2.

The above is a fail safe but time consuming way of doing it.

But if you try number 1 top left of cap as you look at it end on. 3 = top right. 4 = bottom right and 2 = bottom left. you should be ok.
