Problem After Changing Ht Leads, Major Misfire? (2 Vids)

Changed the HT leads on my celica the yesterday when i turned her over she had a metal tinny sound (like a mini back fire) or a mis-fire. Changed the leads back but still the same thing. I'ne narrowed it down to the 3rd cyclinder. I also tried swopping a plug over and have checked the HT leads are connected to right part of the distributer. When running on 3 cyclinders in the second vid, there is a misfire(obviously) but the sound has gone.

Any ideas?

Have you checked the condition of the dizzy cap?

No, but the car was working in the morning. Also you can see the spark from the HT lead on the 3rd cyclinder when its not conected. Could a dodgy distributer be causing the problem?

Quite possibly. TBH for the price of a new dizzy cap it's worth changing anyway (& rotor arm) Check that the contacts arent corroded. Also worth checking the coil connections. The one on the bulkhead. notorious for furring up. Just because the spark is there is no gaurantee that it's a good 'un.

Did you replace the leads one at a time? Seems obvious that it's something to do with the leads, but cars being cars I wouldn't put money on it. ;)
