Vvti Or Not

Hi all, I've had my 2001 1.8 VVTI for almost a year now and its a great car, perfect for my needs. Only thing is its done 40k now and I'm wondering if the VVTI oil issue is going to rare its ugly head.

So my question is 2-fold...

1. Should I keep it and extend the warranty with Toyota for when the inevitable happens?

2. Should I sell and buy an earlier non-VVTI Avensis?

I think the important thing is you keep the service history up to date and keep a close check on your oil as this is about the mileage my Avensis started to use more oil and it was a 2001 model.

I think they have extended the warranty for this oil issue to 5 years but I would check with your dealer
