Really surprised at that quote, I am insured thru Toyota Insurance (Royal Sun Alliance) and mine in the Uk was £360 fully comp, and has dropped way below £300 since I moved over to IOM.You want to go back to them with a few other quotes and see what happens.

Yep done the confused.com search and have a few to mull over....Insured through LV at moment..but Elephant have come back with a competitive quote matching mostly like for like...

Will call them at weekend just to see....

Sad to see one fatality and two injured on the IOM TT......Having seen the TT as a spectator know how fast they travel and some risks they take.....

Some interesting prices on here.

Im 27, clean licence, sole driver, 6 years ncb (7 when insurance is due in couple of months).

Did a quote with elephant due to them allowing you to declare mods, revealing (what i think were) fitted options and planned modifications:

leather seats

sidesteps

tte bumper insert

tte grille

tte twin exhaust

came in at a few pence under £400 for fully comp, which isn't bad as i was paying £300 fully comp with admiral for the old p-reg 4.1

Sounds like you've bagged a BARGAIN there Chatman!!!

Mines £379 with Morethan - almost 65% cheaper than my renewal quote with Churchill this year.

Bit of a No Brainer really!!

Is it just me or do Insurance Companies just gradually shaft you over the years, hoping you'll be too lazy to look around for a better quote.

Can't see how my premium can keep going up (by much more than the usual small annual economic %ages) every year, when I never claim and should in fact be rewarded as being a loyal, non-claiming customer!!! :censor:

My XT4 fully comp, max no-claims (protected), £200 excess and legal expenses came to £275.21. Parked overnight on road (though low risk area) and includes business use. 50+, clean license; wife as second driver.

I use a local broker each time, who does all the checking around for best deal each year.

Well temptation is a dangerous thing....just had to call Toyota Insurance.... :!Removed!: :!Removed!:

Well called and checked the quote...they had me down as Full Business use... :censor: so got them to change this, only really use to travel to client sites.

So quote amended......   then came back with £429....

Still more than I pay now... ;)

Reason I started this topic was too see what other's were paying and also to say "It pays to shop around"

Hi Freestyle,

I'm insured with Elephant and you need to keep in mind that they only insure the basic vehicle. So, if you have an accident and damage the grille (for example) you will have a standard grille fitted in the repair.

Cheers for the input. Interestingly enough, i did a quote with adrian flux through their 4x4 section declaring mods on a like for like basis and they came back with £325

Ok I may have jumped in too quick... Called A-Plan insurance....They advertise on TOC..... Very helpful staff...

Elephant did not favor very well in polls and other forums also came low down in insurance poll in Auto Express mag.

A-Plan came back with a very competitive quote of £279 and PNCB...So on Monday sorting details out with them.... :toast:

Give them a try and see what they can do for you.....

Well........

I think I'd have to write this lot down and anylise it before I could come to any useful conclusions.

There are so many different models and years of RAV's that we're not comparing eggs with eggs.

The nearest I can come up with is Steve because I have a similar age and model XT4 D4D. I live in rural Derbyshire but for some reason the risk ranking is higher than central Hull where my daughter lives so there is one anomaly!! Chances are that Central Hull is higher than rural Aberdeen. (Steve, would you mind giving me your post code [by pm] so I can throw it into the calculator - doesn't matter if you would rather not).

I did the Toyota quote on line and with full NCB, 5% Club Toyota disc' age 47, £175 compulsory excess and £200 voluntary, it comes out at £348.

When I come to renew in a couple of months I will phone them as I have never yet been unable to negotiate futher discount by playing one against the other (with genuine quotes) but given they use all genuine parts in a Toyota workshop it does give me a warm feeling.

At my old company where we had lots of reps cars that were always getting knocked about, I saw some shameful repair jobs from the insurance Co's designated workshops so I am wary of unknown quantities. (I must admit Steve, yours looked good on the photos after the little ice/dry stone wall altercation so yours does look good value).

However I am drawn towards Mr T on this one but will decide when I get all my ducks in a row.

Cheers

Last weeks Auto Express had an excellent report on Britain’s best and worst insurers, based on their reader’s experiences. It made interesting reading; get a copy if you can.

Yep this is what made me re-consider my options...if some inconsiderate driver does decide to change the shape of my RAV :crybaby: :crybaby: I want it fixed asap and properly  and Elephant came low down in this aspect from it's users... :crybaby: :crybaby:

Yep, the cheapest is not always the best. For example, make sure that your insurance company gives you the option of using a bodyshop of your choice rather than having to use the one that they want. I won’t bore you with my recent experiences but believe me going cheap could mean you could end up with your RAV being repaired by a real back street Mickey Mouse operation. I know!. The bottom line is that it was all about the insurance company saving themselves a few bob; the premium may be cheap but just make that they are not clawing back the money in some other way.

This is very true.At least with Toyota Insurance they do use OME parts.Out of interest it would nice to find out how many Toyota Main Dealers actually have their own bodyshops and don,t out source the repairs. I bet you could count it on one hand!!!!!!

HI all

It does not matter who you are insured with,If your car is damaged you have the right to have it repaired using

genuine toyota parts, And you have the right to reject any substanded repairs.

basically it should be in the same condition it was pre accident.
