The girlfriend has just bought herself a new yaris 1.0 t3, which has that 3 cyclinder engine.

Any ideas on how to spice it up a little, its meant to have a wee bit of poke about it i have been told but its dreadful, foot to the floor and really doesnt do anything and thats in 1st.

mind you the engine sounds good

the exhaust is also a little raspy, is this standard. I have checked it its brand spanking and it does not appear to be blowing from the joints.

Personally I think a 3 cylinder one litre in the new bigger heavier Yaris is a mismatch. It’s good for what its designed for, city driving. For a better performance I would have gone for a 1.3 as a minimum.

The New Yaris 1.0 with the 3 cylinder engine has much more low speed torque than the previous 1.0 yaris.

I have now done over 11000 miles in mine and the engine has got better as it has bedded in. It is certainly very capable of holding its place at the "traffic light grand prix" when required, and will "see off" most other 1.2 hatchbacks whilst still returning a healthy average 54 MPG minimum and on occasions (when driven more sedately) an average 69.9 MPG.

The exhaust note is a "sporty" rasp and has, on some forums, been compared to the sound of the Porsche exhaust!

I think that it sounds good

If you really feel that the car is down on power after it has bedded in I would advise that you contact the supplying dealer as there could well be a fault.

TVOR..............I feel that the 1.3 really does not offer the balance of performance and economy that I want from my Yaris and is also overpriced for only a modest improvement in performance.
