Mk2 Yaris Recall

The Mark 2 Yaris has been recalled due to a fault with the side airbags, and the headrests on the front seats. You should be getting a letter from Toyota soon I'm informed by Mr T.

It is a recall for front airbags (requires new seat covers for the fronts) and rear headrests (requires new headrest clips/springs fitting)

This wont mean your car will need seat covers, it maybe just headrest clips/ All depends what your chassis number etc is. The visit to the dealership will

let you know which your car requires though.

Headrest clips are a 2 minute job. :D

QUOTE:

Nearly 20,000 Yaris superminis are being recalled by Toyota over fears that the head restraints may detach and the side airbags fail to fire properly in an accident.

Potentially faulty locking mechanism of the front and rear head restraints might mean they detach from their seats in an accident.

Toyota is also concerned that the side airbags might not fire with sufficient force in a collision. While the company says the airbags will operate properly in most cases, there is a chance that maximum protection may not be offered.

Owners of 19,075 cars built between November 2005 and August 2006 will be contacted by Toyota with the offer of free inspections and remedial work.

Just a follow up to my previous posting on this topic:

Yesterday I received a very pleasant letter from Toyota GB thanking me for taking my car to the dealership for the recall and hoping that I had not been too inconvenienced.

As well as the £10 worth of fuel and the valet they have now sent me an additional voucher for £25 which can be used for servicing/parts/anything from any Toyota dealer before end of December 2008.

Has anyone else on here received an additional £25 voucher after this recall or are they really being good to me? :yahoo:
