Does anyone know if you can attach any MP3 player to it or is it iPods only

This is a guess but it looks on mine as though it is iPod only. The connector is for iPod and includes Battery charging.

Having said that there is a short blanked off wire near the connector. It seems a bit flimsy for an mp3 jackplug though.

Before I order my iPod kit can anyone give me an overview of how well the iPod integrates with the stereo? How effective is the control of the iPod and how good is the browsing of the tracks on it?

Cheers.

The sound is excellent - that's the good news.

The bad news is that you do not see any track information at all. The iPod link works only through playlists that you have set up on the iPod before you plug it in.

It then cons the head unit into thinking it is a cd changer. All that you see on the touch screen is 6 'disks' which are in fact your first 6 playlists. You pick a button to press.

It will accept the usual cd options like 'random' and 'scan'.

It will hold any number of playlists but the buttons always show 1-6. It will begin from the playlist you were playing before you plugged in the iPod. You cannot do anything at all and you get no display on the iPod while it is plugged in. The snag is that you have to remember what is on each playlist.

You can move up and down the tracks on a playlist using either the steering wheel or head unit track switch but again you cannot see the track names.

Overall this is a disappointing and expensive piece of kit if you want to browse your iPod on the move but I thought it was worth getting for the convenience and the sound quality is far better than the FM transmitter I was using before. :)

I got my iPod connector a few days ago and it's like you say, at least when you have the new touch screen navigator.

But the thing is that, reading the manual of this connector, it describes very well its functioning, and it does include the display of the playlists and track names.

So either our iPod software is too new and doesn't match with the Toyota integration kit, or more likely, this kit was only intended for the standard Toyota CD&radio unit.

But here Toyota should do something about it, as this kit cost its money and we cannot accept this poor performance.

Kind regards from Spain
