Service History - Has Cambelt Been Changed?

Hi -

We've just bought a 94-99 6th Gen Celica GT - it came with "Full" service history up to 75,000 miles and has now done 80,000 miles on the clock. The dealer we bought it off casually mentioned it has had a cambelt change "15,000 miles ago" ish - but, having had a look through fully stamped book there's no mention of a cambelt change - is this normal not to mention the cambelt change in the service record book or has it probably been done but not mentioned in the book? The stamped miles are roughly:

50

15,000

25,000

30,000

35,000

40,000

50,000

65,000

70,000

75,000

So, am just wondering from those figures etc does anyone think it likely to have been done on the 50,000 miles service?

Thanks

Does anyone know whether it's standard practice for Celica's to get a cambelt change at 50,000 miles?

Thanks

iirc Toyota recommend changing the belt at 60,000 miles or 5 years. whichever occurs first. The 3S engine is supposedly a non interference engine, so cambelt failure shouldn't be catastrophic. Not a theory I'd like to put into practice. If you're in any doubt then I would suggest you get it done again. Probable cost would be around the £200 +/- mark, depending on who you get to do it. Think of it as additional insurance for your engine, along with decent oil and regular servicing.
