2002 RAV D4D. Driving in heavy rain this morning my speedometer stopped working and shortly after that the emgine management system warning light came on. I guess the electrics got wet and have got a short circuit. Has anybody got any ideas on where to start looking to dryout, clean & insulate connectors etc? :ffs: Great weather for June in it!!

Hi Andy

I would suspect the speedo transducer on the gearbox/diff'.

Try disconnecting it then give it a dose of DW40. Check for any damage to the loom near it.

The ECU light will come on as it depends on the speedo information for all sorts of adjustments.

Cheers

I disconnected the most likely looking electrical connection on the gear box. I could see no evedence of water ingress but sprayed it with AC90 (similar to WD40). just in case! Poped it back on and Hey Presto Just like it says on the tin (or Blog). The speedo woz working again!
